Magic Goal - Clive Allen 12:49 - May 21 with 2010 viewsNorthantsHoop

Just seen this on FB QPR Pride of London. Remember being there at West Ham around March 1984 to see this brilliant goal from Clive Allen. Rangers were fantastic in that 83/84 season on our return to Division 1.

It reminds me of that goal he scored against Cambridge where he sent the entire defence the wrong way. The great thing is that he had the imagination to think of something like this and the ability to actually do it.

Bradley Allen scored a similar goal at the same end in the early 90's

Great goal but what about those beautiful Guinness sponsored Jerseys. Our crest looks like its red so I think its the first or second edition .the shirt I am still obsessed with had a white logo but felt like velvet .Somebody on this highly educated and long time fans forum must have the answer .

Strange that after scoring such a brilliant goal, he looked as miserable as sin after scoring it and didn't celebrate. I know he was born in Stepney which is West Ham territory, was he a West Ham fan as a kid does anyone know?

I think someone posted on here that the goal was only a consolation goal?

we were 2-0 down at the time, so at that moment it might only have been a consolation goal, he went on to score the equaliser and he celebrated that.

Strangely, Stepney used to have quite a lot of Millwall.

Always wondered why this goal is not more famous than it is. Should be on the titles of all TV football shows

Good read that, didn’t realise or had forgotten that if we’d won our last two games instead of drawing home at West Brom and losing away at Everton we would have finished 2nd that year.

If we’d have turned just three losses into wins we’d have won the league!

Looked through the results that year and yes, typical rangers, we lost to Watford, Coventry, Sunderland and feckin Luton!

Great article reflecting how good that QPR team were under Venables, could easily adapt from the plastic pitch to getting results away from home. If only Venables had not been nabbed by Barcelona and Allen stayed another season we could have been quite a force.

I was there, 2nd goal was 'better' as it drew us level.
Terrible views from that Terrace, too shallow.

And, omg Clive is 1 day older than me!
Happy birthday to me

The cheeky chappies on our right lost their sense of humour and were spitting feathers when we equalised. Good day out that.
