Teams qpr slaughtered. 14:14 - Aug 25 with 5394 viewsqpr_1968

but the score should have been much higher.
don't expect many of you to remember, it was 84/85 season.
qpr 3-0 notingham forrest.....from start to finish we absolutely battered them, should have been 20-0.
2 goals from fereday, and 1 from bannister.

can anyone else remember a low scoring battering we gave someone.

my first game against qpr was against forrest in 1968, beat them 2-1, and was one of only four that we won all season.

first game for the new season, forrest, a nice 3 points would be welcome.

Poll: how many games this season....home/away.

Yes I remember this very well - we hit the woodwork 5 times and in the last minute they broke away and Alan Smith scored.

One of the most one sided games I have seen and am still amazed we managed to lose.

Leicester fans still remember this game from 34 years ago as they recognise how incredibly lucky they were.

We played them in the FA Cup a few months later at home and managed to beat them 5-2 (highlights below)

Was it me or did I count 6 goals being scored there? What I do remember from that game was that we sat in the Ellerslie Road Stand and all but froze to death. Second coldest I’d ever been at a football match after Birmingham away on New Years Day 1980. Christ that was as cold as I’ve ever got.

Poll: Where will Clive put QPR in his new season preview

At home to Wolves and 2-0 down. Adel comes on and terrifies the Wolves defence and midfield single handedly only for Wayne Hennessey in goals to have the game of his life. We ended up losing 2-1 but AT alone would have seen at least 3-4 of his efforts normally go in.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah that clip brings back memories. Was at that game. Think it's the first time I've seen these goals since!!

Love how 3 Leicester defenders berate Ian Andrews for conceding Fenwick's free kick!!

2012, Man City away, last game of the season.

We absolutely battered them for 90mins (even whilst down to 10 men), Kenny is a spectator all afternoon. Joe Hart playing out of his skin. How we were only 2-1 going in to injury I'll never know!

Then we concede 2 goals against the run of play in injury time to somehow lose 3-2!!!

Scandalous result!!

The 0-0 at home to West Ham is my onr for this thread, but I will chuck in this one from the same age.

At home to Stoke near the start of the 74/75 season. We created chance after chance but failed to convert any of them. Come the 89th minute & the first Stoke attack of the game gave them a 1-0 win.

From memory, I think Hurst scored the goal.

Anyone remember the game at home to Leeds in the 68-69 season? We were to be relegated with the lowest number of points and Leeds were to become champions.
We lost but will always remember how we hammered them.

I found a small report below - I thought it typified our season although we were clearly not good enough.:-

Leeds had another vital game in London the following Friday, facing bottom club Queens Park Rangers in a fixture brought forward from Good Friday. Don Revie later identified the match as the turning point of the season. "I am baffled that Rangers are not near the top, instead of at the bottom. We could have lost 4 or 5-1. That little bit of luck had swayed in our favour that night."

The Londoners needed a point to get off the foot of the table, but nearly got both, hammering United from the start. They almost took a shock lead in the first minute. Roger Morgan's free kick beat Gary Sprake, but Jack Charlton had it covered. Apparently thinking it was going wide, he allowed it to drop over his head. The ball struck the post, sparing United embarrassment.

It was United, though, who took the lead a minute later. Madeley brought the ball through from half way and got in a shot. It came back off the keeper and Jones fired home from around 12 yards.

Rangers were quickly back at the visitors, and Leeds survived a penalty appeal in the first half. Just after the interval QPR were successful with another appeal for a spot kick but Sprake dived to his right to save Keetch's effort.

United brought Belfitt on for the injured Giles as Rangers pushed yet harder. Rodney Marsh was having an inspired game and he and Mick Leach both came close to an equaliser before Frank Clarke missed a sitter. Sprake was then lucky to grab a fine glancing header by Clarke on the line. Shots continued to rain in on the United goal but somehow they survived to take home both points.

The year before we beat Luton 6-1 we drew 1-1 , Alex Chambelain their then rookie keeper made some absolute world class saves, I walked out the ground saying “should have won that 6—1” shame I didn’t put a few quid on it the following year.

The 3-2 home win v Luton last season.
We should have been 7 up by HT.
And then Hugill missed a Hat Trick of easy chances in the 2nd half.

September 1973, home to West Ham. Second game back in the First Division. It finished 0-0, but we absolutely battered them. Three goals disallowed that night if I remember correctly.

That was the one that came to mind for me too.

Sorry if already mentioned - the 6-1 win v West Ham in the 70s - was it FA Cup? - they scored first I think as well!

Great call. I was there as a kid and remember us being the better team by far.

Good thread!
This one was a bitter pill to swallow. We were all over them in the first half but failed to take our chances. I was listening while doing some gardening; I can't remember what the weather was like but one thing's for sure, I know that the air around me was 100% blue by the final whistle.

"Rangers were doing a number on their opponents and with boos ringing out from the Holte End and Paul Lambert’s inexperienced team visibly wilting under the strain of it all it’s likely that the lead being doubled would have killed the whole thing as a contest. Three, four, five nil? Anything seemed possible at this stage".

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

That is still one of the best performances I've seen Rangers play!

The next game was a 3-2 defeat at Tottenham in which we outclassed them for long periods.

Play brilliantly twice & end up with no points. Our season ended that day!

This one for me, absolutely tore Villa to shreds in that first half. I think Guzan was the keeper.

This season when we contrived to lose 2-1 at home to Hull.

We absolutely annihilated them first half. Was one of the most one sided games I've seen at Rangers

Norwich, home 1988/89. P issed all over them. Then the “isn’t he dead?” Alan Taylor bundles one in off his arse. And we go spiralling to a “typical Rangers” defeat.

Until Mark Falco pops up in injury time to smack one in and piss off the budgerigars.

A 1-1 slaughter.

My brother and me had a punch up at home later over who was setting up the video to tape the goals.

It meant that much back then.
