Fulham FC 2020/21 - The Untoppables? 09:29 - Sep 12 with 16915 viewsKonk

Fulham v Arsenal is the 12:30 kick-off today, meaning that if we win, we will go top of the table. Win heavily and we will probably still be top of the table by the end of the weekend. If we then continue that form and win all our remaining matches heavily, we will probably have been top of the table for the entire duration of the season. Remarkable.

Has any team ever achieved this before? Hopefully Scott Parker will see this, print it off and let it form the basis of his team talk. Fulham FC -The Untoppables 2020/21. Sod's law that grounds are closed when this happens. Even so, I couldn't be prouder. I'm starting fundraising to get a statue of Kenny Tete for the pavement outside the Chancellors. COYW.

Hold on a second; Konk obviously very welcome here, but (no offence) i'd rather not even know, this is a Rangers website!

Bleddy Fulham.

Presumably the thing that will stop them 'doing a Derby' is that they'd spend a bit of cash in January, which IIRC Derby didn't do.

apart from them doing that last time and the team did nothing until the last 4 games when all of their opposition were mentally, on the beach applying factor 15

would be a shame to see Derby lose the record though

I've just been on the blower to the Premier League, to let them know that I'm withdrawing Fulham FC from all competitive football for the remainder of the 2020/21 season. With immediate effect. They tried to talk me out of it, but I told them I'd made up my mind. They've asked me to sleep on it.

After the third goal went in tonight, the commentator said something like, "Fulham really are shi..." and I was honestly expecting him to say "shi t", but he actually said, "shipping goals...". We are absolute pony.

Media reports keep saying how Brentford have avenged their Play Off final defeat. How? Surely the rewards of that game far, far outweigh the rewards of tonights game.

To be fair to them, they've been a lot better this half.....but their defence is awful.

You go years without a penalty being touched twice by the same player & then it happens twice in a weekend!

Take a bow Middlesbrough & Fulham!

"Oh, no; you've got a penalty!" - my wife's exact words when the penalty was awarded (I was in the kitchen at the time). That tells you everything you need to know.

As far as I can see, we have three options:

1) Politely decline all future penalty awards
2) Sign a specialist penalty-taker such as Ray Stewart, Stuart Pearce or Matt Le Tissier and either start them every game or have them on the bench (can you bring a sub on between a penalty been given and taken?)
3) Just embrace it, and have the penalty taker blindfolded, wearing big clown shoes, and spun around for 30 seconds before they run-up to the penalty spot.

We don't celebrate penalties being given to us and opponents don't bother complaining; they're just a massive waste of everyone's time.

Danny Murphy blamed it on the angle of run up, rather than the pitch on MOTD2 last night.

Danny Murphy was a great penalty-taker (and player) for us and ought to be in better shape that my other penalty-takers - I'll have Danny back in the team. Problem sorted.

I get what he's saying about the angle. I'm sure about 20 years ago we failed to score with 7-8 penalties on the bounce. We must have missed 4 against Rangers in about 3 seasons or something daft too. Cavaleiro has been poor for us, so I was 100% confident that he wouldn't score with his penalty.

PS. As someone who can't be ars ed to proactively keep up to date with the laws of the game, I appreciate your informed analysis of decisions in games/laws - thank you for those!

We've decided to stop giving away penalties and just concede straight from corners instead.

It saves a lot of faffing about.

Thanks - If I wasn't a referee I wouldn't do so either re the law changes!

Read a Kevin DeBruyne quote that whilst not 100% accurate does sum up waht many think about the laws I think.

He said that he has been playing professionally for 10 years & for the first 7 he didn't notice any law changes but for the last 3 there have been loads every season - as I say not quite right but pretty close!

Now that we're the penalty kings, larruping 'em into the top corner with pace and precision, winning away at Leicester, and surging-up the table in a perfectly timed run to the summit, cup fever has well and truly taken hold over on the good side of SW6.

This was the scene in my front room when Fulham's name was drawn out the hat:

And, yes, all those people in the photo, we do all live together in the same household bubble, before anyone thinks about grassing us up to the Covid police.

Asked my Dad if he could pop down the Cottage and get in the queue for tickets. This was the scene when he got to the ground (forgive the black and white photo - it's an old phone).

Bear in mind a) that queue goes all the way up to the Crabtree and b) the game's gonna be played behind closed doors. People don't care, they just want to be in that queue, so they can say, "yeah, the year we won the cup, I queued up for a month to get a ticket for a game played behind closed doors." There are people who've sacked their jobs off to be in that queue, knowing they'll end up watching it at home on the telly. Remarkable. That gives you some idea of the level of excitement. Scott Parker's taking the squad down there tonight, to say to the players, "Look, that's what the cup means to these people. Look how much they want it. There's no tickets for sale, but they couldn't give a toss."

We've scored a penalty now, so why not win our first bit of major silverware? Cup fu cking fever. We've won our last two games at Wembley and Kenny Tete should be back for the final. If not now, then when?! Up the Fulham!
