Just blind speculation................

Nakhi Wells? on 03:11 - Aug 19 by Wegerles_Stairs

He was captain last week.

I wouldn't want him back if he can't spell 'lapse'.

To be honest if they were doing laps at the time no wonder they got caught out.

Never knowingly right.

You’re assuming he meant “lapse”. He may have been referring to someone from Lapland.

Two ps, ie Lapp. However, more correct to use Sami now.

"He's fat. he's round, he does Lapps around the ground, Sami Lee, Sami Lee"... yep, that works.

The grass is always greener.

I think Thomas and his energy/drive can cover the playmaker roll as back-up. I thought he looked tidy against Orient in a second string side, he's a hard worker, passes the ball well, presses. Can also see Dozzell playing slightly higher up the pitch if needs be or StefJo, as we've seen last season. Even Dom Ball played as an attacking no.10!

I think it's a testament to our coaching that so many players are adept at playing multiple positions, and something that Warburton has targeted and mentioned when bringing players in. Especially given he values a small and tight squad.

Also, re: Wells, I think his hold up play was fantastic. Obviously he wasn't competing for balls in the air, but the way he ran the channels and his movement/intelligence worked really well for us previously. I understand he is a different type of player to Dykes, but I absolutely think he would work in this system as the 1 up top, if we were to bring him in on loan as the third striker (not that I can see that happening).

...let's not forget Amos either

Poll: Best hug a stranger / fall down five rows / 'limbs' late goals this season

Don't forget, we've got Amos to come back. I know he was being used in a more DM/CM role rather than an out and out attacking midfielder/playmaker type, but I think he has that about him too. If we're down to the bare bones [(c) H Redknapp], he could do a job there too.

My point is if say Charlie is suspended and Lyndon gets a knock we have little else up top.
Wells, Hugill etc may be needed as cover as we have nothing else.

I agree, I was saying something similar on the Charlie thread last night.

0-4 down v Brum. Back to 3-4. We get a penalty. Wells misses it

Never want to see him again.

Dykes has missed a penalty

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a striker come in on loan, but not until January and Wells is no longer a good fit anyway.

Don't think we are going to spend big money on a very inconsistent Wells or Hugill j to sit on the bench 'just in case'.

When I am lying on my death bed and I take a last look at this site for the sake of the memories, someone on here'll be asking if it's worth getting Nakhi Wells back in. It'll probably be that that finishes me off.

Blind speculation aside, it's a no from me. He's 31 and 5'7". Given the club's ethos and manager's favoured formation, he's no longer a fit.

Sizeist! Charlie's 32, in case you hadn't noticed (and probably looks more like 34/35 - he's really aged for me! Sorry, Charlie!)

Wells scored 1 in 2 for us only a year ago - and I think he could hit those figures again in our side. What I don't udnerstand is how he's manged to play 65 games for Brizzle in one season according to his Wiki page!

We just need to 'get on with it'.......we have been a little unlucky with unavailability's (similar positions) and get to the International break.

In saying that I would like another established forward but if we do that it will cut down on Kelman's game time which is probably not what the Club want to do. Nakhi is not the answer & nor is Hugill.

Tough times at the football club and expectations making it even harder.

That would be one & a half seasons rather than just the one.

He went there in January 2019.
