Emma Raducanu. 08:01 - Sep 10 with 22455 views | Snipper | What a story this is. She had to go through three qualifying matches to make the main draw, and she’s now in the US Open final without dropping a single set. Let’s hope she wins it.

When I was the manager of my daughter’s U14 football team we have a player that was head and shoulders above everyone else in my team, and the league too.She later went on to be picked for the England girls football team. She was also the 8th best ranked British girls tennis player, and being only a year older than Emma, she might’ve followed the same career path, but I heard she lost interest in tennis and concentrated on football instead.Oh to be good at one sport let alone two. Not a bad paycheque for 3 weeks work though is it?

Emma Raducanu. on 01:24 - Sep 12 with 2687 views | CLAREMAN1995 | Magnificent win against all odds fair play to her .Delighted she found that extra gear to pull away a real blood sweat and tears finale.A star has arrived and hopefully she goes on to win many more. A few negatives too sadly, the crowd started to pull way harder for Hernandez and that was a pity because both stories are incredible but Emma just captured lightining in a bottle and deserved better. Hernandez showed poor sportsmanship over the cut which is clear ,the blood has to be stopped and it was done by the book. She took over the interview too talking about 911 and how she is hoping for the same strength NY showed after the attacks. The best player won long may she run

It’ll be a lot harder getting Wimbledon tickets next year. It’ll also be a game changer for the sport if we see what is essentially an athlete winning women’s grand slams.
Emma Raducanu. on 09:57 - Sep 12 with 2335 views | bosh67 | It really was like watching Becker in his first Wimbledon. Absolutely fearless and yet totally ruthless. She's an extraordinary talent. I don't think I've seen a woman hit a ball so hard since Graf and she has a Nadal-like ability to hit the edges of the baselines like an arrow. She's brilliant, young, can only get better, grounded, laser-like with her forehand and stunningly beautiful. It's quite sickening really! :)

Glad I wasn't the only one that felt the interview was a little stage managed to over shadow Raducanu And she just kept on smiling and gave a wonderful account of herself. What makes this so amazing, apart from all the other amazing things about her, she did this without any family out there with her Everytime they panned to her mother and sister Mrs malcolmintabuk was nearly in tears wanting Emma to win. What a wonderful young woman she is and please God let us protect her against expectations

I thought her comments on 9/11 did seem a bit staged. When she said oh! 1 more thing, it came across to me as oh! I nearly forgot to say my prepared statement my agent has given me. It was a great match though, Emma's progress and the way she's come across throughout was amazing to watch.

Oh for the love of god will small minded little Englanders like you just f.off She moved over here when she was two, has a British passport, educated entirely in Britain, Identifies as British, and talks the Queen's English better than the majority of people born in this country. To me she's British. [Post edited 12 Sep 2021 13:29]

My Mrs had an Indian dad and a German mum, born in Watford, guess she isn’t British either then. Bet you would have had something to say had she said she was representing China or Romania ! [Post edited 12 Sep 2021 13:25]

Emma Raducanu. on 13:33 - Sep 12 with 2002 views | johann28 | Hey steady on. Not suggesting for a moment she isn't 'British'. It's the narrow nationalism of the press that I find disturbing. Same with the Olympics - all the coverage about the 'Team Gb' and comparatively little about some of the world's best athletes if they happen to be Chinese. The US media are the worst offenders, but the BBC is close behind.

Apologies if I misunderstood your original statement. As for the press I try my best to ignore them. In two weeks time you'll get the gutter trash trawling through her waste bins for something to bring her down with. Of course there's going to be a considerable level of fawning, and pride in her being a Brit, its only natural. She's achieved something probably a million other qualifiers in the 50 year history of women's Grand Slam Tennis have never gotten close to. [Post edited 12 Sep 2021 13:52]

The last British female Grand Slam winner was 44 years ago. Why shouldn’t the media get excited with a British winner?

I have lived here in America for 30 years and still cannot figure out their bias towards their own and forget about the adds on TV ,they will find time between serves, pitches, throws, kicks .golf shots etc its horrible. Ironically the Golf Channell love the Euros during the Ryder Cup and when we win its must see tv during the team interviews they are half drunk and have fun with no mercy shown in a good way. Yesterday i really felt the crowd ,commentators and TV exces wanted Hernandez to win and never felt more joy even pride that Emma dug down deep and not only won but showed composure and class throughout the presentation .What a grounded respectful Athlete she is .

Unfortunatly swisscottage there are very few like you, even more junk on line than just the printed press. Yes will admit I am a tennis fan, a bad club player and have been for sixty plus years, so have watched many of the greats in the pro era. What this young lady has achieved is truly remarkable and hopefully the press will remember she is still a 'novice' in the tennis world and not expect her to sweep through every tournament she enters, well not for a little while yet. With a bit of luck she will stay injury free and keep up the high standards of her game, she is following in the footsteps of some great women players and if she can get any where near the achievments of Natrolova, Williams etc she will have shown her early promise is no fluke. To find only the odd player over the generations able to compete and win at the very top level of the game in he UK has I feel been a real shame, we have a young lady who may just be that spur to many others in the UK and help increase the chance of more players playing in the Grand Slams with a hope of actually winning them.

This is why I posted earlier on the thread about irony. A look at the image below and you could cut the dissonance with a tennis racquet.

Agree with every word. Too much to ask fir a headline reading 'victory for Tennis, with a Romanian flag, a Chinese flag, a Canadian flag, and the Union jack all t ogether? As with our multi-national QPR team? Love patriotism, hate nationalism.
