I think there's an element of that but it's a bit more complicated than that. I think we missed Lyndon yesterday as an outlet and that's why it made a difference when Andre Gray came on. I know Charlie hasn't ever been fast but he was practically a statue yesterday. Willock was double marked almost all match. Not having an outlet means you give the ball away a lot which in turn puts pressure on your defence as they have to keep winning it back.

Odubajo was calling for the ball quite a lot but then when he got it, didn't seem to know what to do with it and kept cutting in, allowing the defence to get back. We had 13 blocked shots yesterday, which usually happens when you've not moved the ball quickly enough and their defence has had enough time to get into position to stop the shots. Uncs in contrast just got the ball and then put in a first time cross, and their defence really didn't like it.

If you look at the third goal, what created it was Thomas actually driving with the ball as soon as he got it, creating space, then Gray dividing the defence and leaving more spaces for others to go into.

Honestly we looked like we would have scored the fourth if only we could've kept the ball moving. Reading were desperate and causing fouls/diving/kicking the ball out/feigning injury etc, anything to stop us playing with the damn thing. Willock actually looked up at the crowd apologetically when he nearly curled the fourth in but just missed. I think we'd still be there celebrating if that had gone in.

Agree with that last para. We were so in control for the first 20 mins, but too comfortable keeping the ball and taking the piss out of them, but no urgency or drive forward. It was like a training game. Was that because we were complacent or because we had little movement up top meaning that the forward option just wasn't there?

We could (and should) have killed that off before they equalised, but weren't ruthless enough.

Can we go out yet?

Something isn't working for Chaz at the moment but he's the sort of player that will dig in and fix it rather than do a Hemed. I would be quite interested to see how he would work with Gray as a starting pair. Might not come to anything but the two of them seem to have complimentary styles.

Not playing well but still a big asset....

Pretty much as I saw it Nix, except couldn't have worded it so clearly! I did wonder about Dykes coming on for, the last 10 but Thomas certainly played his part in the equalizer, as you say

I agree it's not going to be permanent. I'm sure it's either because it's a blip or because he needs someone to play off to really be affective.

It’s not working for Charlie at the moment, he does look a bit top heavy, but that said, playing the first 60 minutes at CF for us must be borderline torture at present. Not even scraps, just constant donkey work. The wing backs are also making his job that much harder by not keeping to the script.

I was in a pub in Kentish Town and genuinely thought 'ah well' at 3-1.

Brilliant from the lads.

Anyone think that we might be missing the defensive work of Sam field this season ? Dom ball is playing well but he hasn’t got the defensive qualities of field I’m sorry to say

This Said the same a few times.

Is that because it's being shown live somewhere?

I thought midweek games were fair game this season when not being shown live?

It's the squad.

Good substitutions, all three played a part in a goal. George Thomas powering out of our half up the right before passing to Albert in the build up to the equaliser.

We did it without Lyndon as well and Willock was so close to getting a winner.

Haven't seen any of it yet - saving myself with the full 90'+ tomorrow evening.

BBC mentioned that they went very close to making it 4-2?

Close as/closer than Willock's effort?

Closer. A header from a few yards out. If he'd got it on target it looked like Seny was beaten.

PP - have a look at the ref, would you ? He got a few people in our end rather cross yesterday. I’d like to know what you think. Ta.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

I shall indeed referee the game tomorrow evening.

No bother!

Seriously, any specifics or just a lack of 'consistency'?

As I say, can't comment yet as haven't seen a second of footage!

I thought he was very consistent from a Reading perspective. I accept that a busy and noisy away end can alter the perspective, but the tackle on Chair looked a stinker. I genuinely thought he favoured the home side. Also PP - stop watch out on the amount of injury time added, too - again, may have been caught up in the occasion. Hope I haven’t gone all 15 years old again.

FWIW, it seemed to me that up until their equaliser, it had largely seemed like men against boys. I really couldn't see them laying a glove on us, and their goal came as a real surprise.

From the start of the second half, it was also pretty clear they'd been told to disrupt our game at every opportunity, and it was petty foul after petty foul, escalating into some really naughty challenges.

The challenge on Chair was intended to leave a mark without doubt in my mind, and from Ilias's reaction, i think he felt the same. Don't know if anyone noticed, but he was really giving daggers to their fella as he walked down the sideline waiting to get back on, and it crossed my mind it might have been an idea to sub him there and then rather than risk him being sent off. Fortunately he showed more control than I might have in the same situation.

As others have said, once Gray scored, you could see them start to panic a bit, and I really felt if we had a chance to win it at that point. I think we also missed a trick after JoJo's goal, had we just picked the ball up and gone straight back to the centre circle, I reckon we could have got the job done. Willock's injury then took most of the steam out of the last few minutes.

All in all, although it's two points missed, as others have mentioned, it's probably a little churlish to be too critical. We're playing enjoyable, entertaining football and showing great spirit and belief in what we do.

And I think that it's important to embrace the old adage, you've got to be prepared to lose to try to win. 3 wins and 3 losses is still more points on the board than 6 draws. I find myself impatient for the next game at the moment, and I can't remember the last time that was the case.

That’s exactly how I feel. Just because it’s 2 points lost in my eyes doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. Having so much fun watching this QPR side! Bundles of spirit.
