Although WHU are obviously are club on the up at the moment, to go from being the main man to one of Moyes’ assistants does not seem a massive step up and even his fans on here have stated his track record suggests he has some issues managing upwards. I’ve always liked Moyes but he can be a bit spikey, so this seems an odd move to me. I can’t believe that there would be any arrangement for MW to step up automatically should Moyes retire or throw a seven. Some posters seem a bit blinded by their adoration for Warburton, which I find a bit baffling. [Post edited 25 Jun 2022 7:15]

Good luck to him. Just Glad he hasn't joined a championship club. Imagine the reaction if he got a promotion. Meltdown. I think he did more than a decent job. In relation to the managers that preceded him , he was a one eyed man in the Kingdom of the blind.

Spot on. Critchley has done similar and he even left his manager's position of his own volition.

What principles are those? You do not what he he worked as prior to football?

I’ll second that - the very best of luck to him. I think it’s quite a good match and Warburton is possibly taking the job to gain experience from Moyes. Moyes is probably the best manager in the Prem for setting a team up not to lose, he just falls a little short in taking a game to teams. Warburton is the polar opposite.

I do. I'm not annoyed, or anything like that. Or even surprised. Just slightly disappointed. Warburton always spoke about respect, and exhibited it and demanded it. it made me very proud to hear a Rangers manager speak and act in such a dignified manner. I just think this doesn't tally with that. Purely my opinion. But I wish him well nonetheless.

With the right people around him he would bring success to quite a few clubs as a manager and I'm surprised he hasn't either gone for or decide to wait for a managerial role.

| Warbs on 22:55 - Jun 24 by davman | Am I alone in finding this just a little bit wierd as it looks like a huge step backwards from being a manager to being in amongst a bunch of other coaches and subservient to Moyes. Maybe the pressure of the last 20 or so games has got to him and he wants to take more of a backseat role. He's unlikely to get the same level of stick being one of many as opposed to being the main man. Hopefully, he won't act as a scout for them although clearly we don't have to worry about him recommending our youth team starlets! |
No,for someone who likes to get his own way I also fail to see the attraction he has for this job.
| Warbs on 12:16 - Jun 25 with 2385 views | CliveWilsonSaid | It doesn’t say anything about contract length so it might be a fairly flexible arrangement where he can take a managers job if one becomes available. It’s a good photograph! | |

Not quite punk gear but certainly a unique look

A manager who didn't like to get their own way would be a strange proposition. In fact, doesn't everyone like to get their own way? Except people with self-esteem issues, perhaps.

This. What people should remember is that MW will be 60 in September, yet having come very late into the game, he doesn't have a huge "back catalogue". Worse still, his record is not exactly heaving under the weight of silverware. Meaning that if he found himself out of the game for a year, even 6 months, he would very soon be "yesterday's man". I suspect that he's taken this job to keep him in the public eye, knowing that if a decent manager's job comes up, then he could leave, and WHU would let him, on the basis that it is "too good an opportunity to turn down".

| Warbs on 21:16 - Jun 26 with 1276 views | DavieQPR | It appears that Sullivan is providing the financial backing for Bassini to buy Birmingham and was in touch with Warburton to be their manager. When this seemed to have hit the buffers he offered him the coaches job recently vacated by Pearce. | | | |
