Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and people measure performances in different ways. Personally i thought he played as well as could be expected. I dont have the breakdown of his personal stats but he was certainly no worse than anyone else in that second half. A goal and an assist is adding end product which is something he is often criticised for.
Just as a side, MW didn't want to develop him and you could see by how sparingly he was used and even when he had a good game last season he didn't get a run in the team and even last night he Bonne and dunne were playing with the 2nd team which MB acknowledged was difficult and disjointed. I think its hard to form an opinion on a player from 10 minute cameos here and there. If he can get a run and a few goals after a bad few years maybe we will see the player that Cov/leic bought!
I feel like I'm always digging out Thomas and one or two others. I don't mean to be negative and actually feel very positive about most of our squad and where we're going.
However, Thomas has been with us for two seasons, played in 41 games, albeit many of which were from the bench, and up until last night had failed to score and registered just 3 assists. He's shown us what he can and can't do.
I feel for him as he seems to have a great attitude but I hope he doesn't feature for us next season which, with Richards imminent, is very likely. He'd do far better by moving down a league.
I'm actually more concerned about Dozzell after last night. I can see Johansen in that deep pivot 'six' role. I can see Field in this new box to box role - he looks great doing it. But Dozzell as the 'eight' was anonymous against a poor team. Scored that nice goal in Germany, we need more of that. Otherwise this Brighton lad is going to have his place.

I always think Dozzell looks to laid back. Doesn't really track back properly and with the high energy games it appears Beale wants to play might be one that suffers.
Good interview with Beale on WLS and comments right at the end about Field pretty much enforce what you said

Firstly, i respect your opinion as i do with everyone on here. But he started 6 games last season, one was that horror show at RWB(was that last season?) and 5 the season before hand. 11 starts over two seasons is not enough to judge a player i don't think?
I guess my point being he wasnt a MW player and that sometimes happens and a new coach can give a fresh start to some players. I hope he kicks on, as i hope all our players do but see others posters perspectives.
Of course it was a disappointing performance from Thomas. Tell me what else he did in the last 30 minutes of that half against a National League side?
Imo he is a League 1 player at best and I would look to loan him out and get a better player in. If we do sign Taylor Richards then surely that would be it for Thomas.
I agree.
Thomas has had enough chances as Washout did. He's a better player than Washout, but it's not working for him here with us.
Thomas needs to move on, he's been here years and his contribution has been minimal. Compared to Uncle who has done way more in less time, it means Thomas should move on.

11 starts in two seasons under a manager that didn't fancy him isn't enough to judge him in my opinion. Hardly the same exposure to the first 11 as Unc and they are both at different stages in their respective careers, hardly a fair comparison.

I'd love to see Dozzell play one of those forward balls through the lines he loves so much, and then move up and beyond the ball himself to be an option for a return. Once.

Yeah, he has an eye for a pass but just isn't aware enough. Likes to admire his pass rather than actively take the game on. In some ways his style lends itself to the anchor role that Stefan is playing, maybe?. Getting the ball and playing it on, I just don't think he is aggressive enough without the ball. Field though looks so good as an 8 now. That physicality furthur up the pitch will be great. Winning the ball back closer to the opposition goal is something Beale wants to do I believe. Good to see that Beale has identified what a good player Field is and what an even better player he could become

Would imagine when every one is fit Amos will be in that role with the ever enthusiastic Thomas as his back up

Brighton lad is from the parish of She Bu, can't recall the last time a lad that local played for our 1st team.
He's a better defender than Dickie, and maybe better than JCS. He's also a better leader and organiser than Dickie, and maybe better than JCS. So, he must be out because of his passing skills?
That's fine, but he may as well be sold if that's the case and replaced with a ball-playing centre-back, because we're clearly going with four at the back and his passing skills won't improve on the bench.
Not read the rest of this so apologies if its a repeat, but I was very impressed with JCS last night - can't see him not being in the 11 that faces Blackburn at the moment.
