Complaining that kingsmeadow doesn’t have undersoil heating and the women should have the same facilities as the men due to the WSL being on the same level as the PL.
Controversial but unless it generates the same amount of interest and cash then it isn’t.
The crowds although greatly improving the ticket prices are a lot less and I’m sure many are subsidised from the parent club there is no way is it even comparable to the national league at this moment in time.

I happened to watch a bit of Spurs v Chelsea yesterday afternoon. Lauren James scored a great goal to make the score 2-1.

One thing I did notice was that three sides of Brisbane Road where Spurs Women play was completely empty and that was only because you couldnt see the stand where the TV cameras are. Not a soul watching and this was a London derby with some of the worlds greatest female players on show.

Not selling the tickets are they?

Meanwhile TV companies have been paying $100M per season of the Kardashians.

The home fixture had 38,000 people watching it weirdly.

I know it was a re-arranged fixture as per the OP but still, it doesn't look good.

Just putting this out there... I wouldn't mind taking my kids to a game as its much cheaper and less busy etc but my local team being close to Kingston is Chelsea Women. There's not a chance in hell I'm going to support that club.

Would they fare better if they had women teams not associated to their mens counterparts?

I guess it’s up to the regular going fans of the clubs.

I think a (obviously well subsidised) independent football club would do well, say London Women’s FC, or maybe smaller less tribal clubs like Doncaster Belles used to be.

Lewes woman have a decent side I think next time you are looking for a place to go.

Salaries are dictated by economics and those with capital, not ethics. If it were the latter, footballers and sportspeople in general would be a lot less that many public sector workers providing important state services and private sector workers creating employment and income for fellow citizens.

Now, I fully accept that the economics of football do not justify male player wages, hence so many clubs operating a substantial loss, propped up by the cash of a megalomaniac, dictator, state, tycoon, etc. Where they choose to lose their money is, sadly, their business. More of it should be taxed, but that won’t happen.

There isn’t (yet) anywhere near a strong enough business case (not ethical case) for women footballers to paid like men or to benefit for equivalent facilities. It’s no different to two different businesses with different levels of demand, talent, global reach, and revenue generation, especially when you consider the employees/footballers are not competitors doing the same job and could interchange. They can’t because women footballers would not make it the top leagues. Almost everyone acknowledges that.

In time, women’s football might well - hopefully will - improve on all those fronts. As it does pay and facilities will improve.

This isn’t a gender issue; it’s a product one. Capitalism and wealth don’t really care about the gender that generates it.

Can more be done to help woman’s football - through the clubs’ investing and piggy backing on the men’s team? Yes. Is that true parity? I want the women’s game to grow (I have a daughter who I want to play sport) but we shouldn’t see parity as something it’s entitled to. Equally, men’s pay is clearly farcically overcooked on any economic measure or work/wage comparison, so let’s not hold it up as the bar to reach.

I just found Emma’s Hayes comments entitled, tbh. I’d say the same thing about any men’s team’s coach. I’m sure women’s football will get under soil heating at some point, as it is growing as a sport.

You've got two kids, one male and one female.

Do you divide their food based on their earning power?

Absolutely.
See which one has most potential, then sell the other one.
Immediately improves any ROI.

Seriously though, other than grand slam tennis, name me one other sport where women earn as much or more than men....and I mean a sport that anyone's interested in.

I'll go further....other than naked mud wrestling and beach volleyball....name me a sport where the majority of people would rather watch women than men.

I'll go further. As much as we are all supposed to be waving the equality banner and saying how good women's football has become and accepting that every and I mean every sport on tv now has women presenting, commentating or being pundits .....bottom line is....people...men in general...just don't care about watching women's football. Outside the lionesses where everyone, me included, jumped on the band wagon...does anyone regularly watch, keep up with or give a sh*t about WSL. The answer is no.

So anyone that thinks they should be paid the same for generating zero income or interest is off their nut and living in woke la la land.

1,000 plus crowds for women's football is a fad, the 30,000 plus crowds do so because it's a fiver a ticket and sky/BBC are petrified of bad press if they don't push it relentlessly.

I listened to the aforementioned Emma Hayes doing a football commentary for a Men's match a couple of years ago waffling on about playing golf with Azquitapellothingy (Chelsea Fullback) as though either her, he or golf was remotely important to the situation.

P.S. The comment about giving the ground back to Kingstonian FC is she's that unhappy is gold.

Have you ever listened to Jonathan Pearce for 90' - he has made an art form of talking about almost anything except what is going on in front of him - add in his, "Aren't I clever" 1,023 stats he insists on including (Which are provided by a paid for statistician) and I know who I would prefer to listen to - in fact anyone but him!
