| Chelsea’s woman team manager Emma Hayes 23:28 - Jan 24 with 12506 views | loftboy | Complaining that kingsmeadow doesn’t have undersoil heating and the women should have the same facilities as the men due to the WSL being on the same level as the PL. Controversial but unless it generates the same amount of interest and cash then it isn’t. The crowds although greatly improving the ticket prices are a lot less and I’m sure many are subsidised from the parent club there is no way is it even comparable to the national league at this moment in time. | |

| Chelsea’s woman team manager Emma Hayes on 12:43 - Jan 25 by NewBee | I don't think she was saying that the WSL is the same (playing) standard as the PL. Rather it was that it is at the same level i.e. top of its respective pyramid. |
See what the crowds are if they start charging the same prices! Which is what they need to do if they want the same facilities.

I wasn't saying I necessarily agree with her point, merely clarifying it. And as you say, there are counter arguments (attendances, ticket prices etc). However while it may be different for other clubs with a womens' team, I don't believe that CFC have any excuse for not spending a relatively small sum in this respect, when set against the hundreds of millions their billionaire owner is spending elsewhere on the club.

| Chelsea’s woman team manager Emma Hayes on 08:53 - Jan 25 by slmrstid | The postponement was a farce. Actually I don't think its an unreasonable complaint, if you have governing bodies/clubs making a big fuss of it being top level football for the womens game, then give them the facilities that make it so, otherwise its just lip service. And whilst I'm at it, another favourite soap box of mine - if clubs want to treat their womens teams properly then let them play all their home games at the same home stadium. If Chelsea Women are Chelsea, then let them play every game at Stamford Bridge as that is the home of Chelsea, not just Chelsea men. They don't have to open the whole ground if the ticket demand isn't there, but its much better than farming them out to crappy non-league grounds where they are Chelsea in as far as wearing a Chelsea kit, but not much more. (I would absolutely apply the same logic to QPR Women, its nothing but lip service to give them some QPR kit but then make them play all their games god knows where). And in this day and age I would take no nonsense about people complaining about extra games tearing up pitches either. |
"If Chelsea Women are Chelsea, then let them play every game at Stamford Bridge as that is the home of Chelsea" 100%. If we're being told that Women's football is just as important as Men's, then give them the same facilities, and the same respect, and the same pay. Don't patronise them. Like the Nurses - fúck the clapping, give them justice.

Except that Hayes isn't asking for her team to be allowed to play every game at Stamford Bridge. Instead she's asking to have an all-weather pitch at Kingsmeadow, just like the Mens' team have at the Bridge.

Do you think QPR should pay the women's team the same amount as the men?

I'm definitely that. But they should. Or else disband the team and state that they're not interested enough in women or women's football to pay the women's team correctly or give them use of QPR's stadium.

So we’d double our wage bill at a stroke whilst not generating anymore income as the QPR woman’s side gets virtually no one watching?

but "correctly" doesn't mean the same as the mens. Simply because they don't generate the same income or interest for that matter. Some sports women DO generate the same interest/rights - athletics, most winter sports or they compete with the men - horseracing and other equestrian sports. However clearly the WSL does NOT generate the same income as PL - that doesn't mean they shouldn't have decent facilities. [Post edited 25 Jan 2023 14:13]

Youth teams aren't a first team though. The womens team is the first team for that gender, which is a key difference. If you have a football mad son or daughter, I would argue it is fundamentally unfair that the son can dream of pulling on the blue and white hoops at Loftus Road the home of QPR...and all the daughter can do is dream of doing it at Hanwell Town or wherever it is.

Why would it? It's not part of the Men's FFP calculations, and our owners can afford to allow the women to use Loftus Road for their games and to pay them correctly.

No, and to continue your analogy, I would have chosen not to have a second child if I couldn't afford to feed it properly.
