Let's get ready to crumble! on 11:13 - Feb 2 with 831 views | Pikey | Spend the summer obtaining rhubarb, apples, blackcurrant to freeze for a variety of crumbles and pies throughout the winter months. And that sponge with coconut at school was one of the few special pods.
Let's get ready to crumble! on 11:22 - Feb 2 with 809 views | Jeff | another vote for cheesecake over here. not a huge fan of baked cheesecakes though, prefer chilled / set cheesecakes. there's a steak chain in London called Blacklock - similar deal to places like Hawksmoor where you pay by the weight etc. it's probably my favourite steakhouse in London regardless, but it also does a white chocolate cheesecake where they bring out a huge serving dish and just ladle out a portion until you stay stop (which i never do) often go there and drop £100 on a steak dinner just so i can have their cheesecake afterwards...

Let's get ready to crumble! on 12:39 - Feb 2 with 709 views | R_from_afar | Great thread and so many desserts I could mention. Blackberry and apple crumble is hard to beat and last year, Mrs R from Afar made one with blackberries and apples from our garden. It was wicked. A good trifle is hard to beat, my gran's (RIP) was superb, complete with angelica on the top. My mum does an apple mousse, which, as I recall, is made of apples (duh), egg whites, sugar and lemon jelly. She normally serves it with double cream. She used to make it at Christmas, as an alternative to Christmas pud, which us kids didn't like. Also at Christmas, my mum used to make a raspberry cheesebake (not a baked one) with digestive biscuits as the base. She also made a pineapple and ginger pavlova as an alternative. They were both so delicious I honestly could not choose between them, so, naturellement, always had a slice of each haha. If you can find it, ginger ice cream - which Tesco used to sell, other sources are available - is wonderful. Man, I am hungry now!
