Can anyone recall what years LFW was on its various platforms and iterations?

It occured to me recently that I've been on here, on and off, interacting with many of the same posters for what must 20 years or so? Pretty nuts really. Friends I've had IRL for that sort of time I consider lifelong friends. This little community Clive's created is really something.

[Overly moist message ends]

I remember the old Rivals messageboard days when it was run by Ron and Simon. We played a few friendly matches
in the early 2000's against members from Brentford's Beesotted forum. Below is a photo from that first meeting between the two teams at Raynes Park in June 2002, after watching England dismantle Denmark at the Korea/Japan World Cup. Pretty sure that's Ingham in the brown jacket, Road Dog and Maverick are in the front row and GroveR is there, too. Sweepy was indeed the gobby Bees fan who
had his head shaved in the bar afterwards. Happy days.

This photo brings back some great memories. I’m right in the centre, back row along with my eldest brother Graham (white shirt) who came along for the beers. Ingram, E17, Varc, GroveR, Stevenage, WGChoop, Jericho, Neasden, Maverick and so many other top fellas.

I've said it before, but the Reddit Championship forum is well worth visiting and time spending on it. Handful of idiots, but for the most part its outlook and style is very similar to this. Lots of humour, lots of memes, and reasonable and balanced chat from fans of all the different clubs in the league.

Facebook/Instagram and of course Twitter are cesspits, just yesterday I saw the QPR post on Facebook about the tournament Rainbow Rangers took part in at the weekend and the comments left just disgust me. I had to just close a browser down before I started arguments you're never going to get anywhere with with all the cretins posting some of the most hateful crap on it.

I've easily been reading LFW for nearly 20 years now. I briefly had a user on what must have been an old platform around 2008/09 time of "Mr Foxy" when I was struggling to fit in at university and feeling really lonely. I got set on pretty quickly by another poster at the time who thought I was a previously known Watford supporting WUM turning up to cause more havoc. I do remember Northern coming to my defence on it as he could see I was genuine and had no idea who this Watford guy was....so thanks Northern haha.

Can't remember when I set this user up - it was silent for a long time then in the last couple of years I've posted more. I try not to post too much after games, I'm generally too annoyed after I've seen us lose and don't want to lash out, or when we win I'm too pleased to worry about coming on here and going "yaaaayyyy..." or something similar.

Spot on about the rainbow rangers thing. Someone recently posted a pic of a QPR lapel/pin badge they had made with the rainbow and the comments from some of our fans were awful. Facebook is like that these days though, seemingly full of angry, ageing people who like doing nothing more than constantly complaining about absolutely everything and just being nasty. I pity them if they are always that unhappy.

Was anyone on the QPR LIst (I think that was called) in the 90s? Involved debate....via email (!) on a private group. Think it later developed into some weird javascript chatroom or something. If memory serves, was moderated by Barbara something.

I remember Dave Mc was on it. As an ignorant youth, with literally nothing else to do but follow Rangers home and away, I opined that it was great that the Port Vale 4-4 happened in front of the true fans and not the mini-gloryhunters who only turned up away for the big matches. I then got inundated with emails (quite rightly) from irate older fans who had jobs, responsibilities, families.....:-) Oops.

The QPR list still going, not as strong as it used to be but still get some good stuff on there

I met up with Smiffy before a game, he was an alright bloke tbh but when he was posting on here he was/had a different personality.
Met loads of posters back In the Rivals days.
Where the f uck they are nowadays gawd knows.
There's no craic on here anymore or so It seems.

Far-far to serious.

Them there early days, including the official QPR message board, was just a craic. Once 'that bloke from down the pub' realised social media was a massive platform for them to get all angry about everything and it become all about them it turned into a minefield. Been on a downward curve for years.

Same with Trump (sorry, trying really hard not to be political but there is context here)... saw a documentary a few years ago about him and he had no idea about or cared for social media, the internet etc. Could just about manage to turn a phone on. Then one day an aide showed him Twitter and he realised how he could use it for his benefit. That's all that mattered to him.
