It is not so much the losing that hurts as the manner of it. We were third to everything last night. If people think we are clear of relegation i would not make that assumption. There really were some dreadful displays last night. What is the deal with Spurs ? Do we have to play Yang as he would struggle to get into Chorley Town 2nds . Positioning all wrong, weak and makes errors in dangerous parts of the pitch. If he ever appears for Spurs i will be amazed. Can someone please tell the club that big fast blokes are what are need in the championship and the constant signing of midgets seems to suggest someone has a fear of gigantasophobia. If anyone debated the impact of Field now you know what a difference he makes. Travelling all those miles to watch players not really caring is very annoying. The club need to get contracts signed with players who are due to leave at the end of the season if they want to keep them. By stalling it just means the player is looking to pastures new and doesn't want an injury. Watching last night i came away thinking we have a serious problem and Marti with his demeanour did not disagree. The side is too small, too slow and frankly seemingly in many cases not trying. If Madsen is trying then i cannot think why we signed him. He is scared and in the Championship being a chicken is going to mean you fail. If you use Frey up front you have to get balls into the box. Yang is clearly not a footballer , Kaito comes and goes but overall is very weak and often badly positioned and Smyth seems to have lost impetus and again his ability to cross a ball. It really was a dreadful performance. Boro were so much better with half there team injured i just hope some of our players are embarrassed and please no more thank you to the fans etc. Try , that will be enough for me.

Not wanting to pick a fight, but our most expensive signing was a 6'4" centre midfielder, on paper exactly what we are looking for

-- I realise that Madsen is not looking anything like a Championship footballer at the moment.

Also, I thought Colback looked terrible last night, powder puff in midfield, about three yards off it, and he is meant to be the experienced pro showing the others the way

I agree this had the look of players swinging a leg, trying to stay fit for the next contract. This is always a danger when there is little to play for and so many players are out of contract at the end of the season

I just got on the train at Darlington and there was a Samaritans table set up handing out leaflets and advice for those struggling to cope.As soon as they saw my QPR hat they turned away as even they can’t deal with that level of misery.
I’m sure I saw Clive picking up a few leaflets though.

I've always said to my son I don't mind QPR being shyte, as long as they die for the shirt. I can't ask for anything more if the team have left everything out there.

It ain't happening.

After watching Dunne take our throw in which resulted in another fast break and almost a goal for Boro (one of his biggest issues which happens multiple times this season) I cannot blame him .
How many times have we been beaten to the endline followed by a perfect cross and tap in goal this year its like groundhog day over and over again.
We had some crosses into the box trying for the head of Dembele and Smyth that they would not reach if they were jumping on a trampoline its was comical really.
Saito while trying had a horrible game and looked totally lost as the game wore on.
I mentioned it on another thread but Edwards lost the ball badly once yet dangerous spot yet sprinted around and found a way to disrupt the play and win it back we need that from all 11 players not just our loan guy (superb player btw)
We are our usual 6 or 7 game losing streak but its our second one this season so much for season of hope and dreams under Marti and Co.

The problem for me is Marti has gone away from being pragmatic to being this side who play out from the back all the time. WE DONT HAVE THE PLAYERS FOR THAT.

Playing possession football and looking pretty all the time isn't going to win you games. You've got to be pragmatic.

Also, I personally think without Field or Varane, we lack any sort of protection for the CBs. That's why I think 4-2-3-1 just doesn't function without them.

We need to go 4-3-3 against Leeds.

You make some great points, we are quickly turning into the team I was witnessing in September and October, especially away from home. The point on the strength and size of players needed for this League is really valid, our midgets especially up front can't cope with the physicality of 6 foot plus opponents and they get muscled off the ball quite easily. Yang is really looking out of his depth at the moment, Saito who I think is a great little player struggled yesterday. Smyth can do a decent job but again physicality a problem against bigger units. Boro, West Brom, Sheffield Utd, Millwall etc all look much more powerful through the team. For me the physicality and general height of the team especially midfield and attack is a concern, if we remember back to the Warburton days of a 4 or 5 years ago he made similar comments that teams in the Championship that lack height do suffer. Trouble is we bought Madsen for his height in midfield but so far he has been a bit a right dud, even Marti does not trust him. A bit worried for Leeds on Saturday as confidence has gone again and whereas in January when we were looking more solid and assured that has gone. The bottom line for me is, even when I watch from my seat in Upper Loft if we go a goal behind just do not feel confident that we can get back into a game, go a goal up and it is better they seem to rally.

The most annoying thing for me is Morrison not playing and to a lesser extent Madsen. We are not playing great and we’re in poor form. We may as well then give game time to players that are our players and players that most definitely need game time. I don’t understand it. Marti has been brilliant for us, but that is 100% on him.

We seem to be losing by one goal whether it be 1-0 or 2-1 in this run so it makes me think a hiding must be on the cards. Leeds will remember we effectively stopped them going up last season so will probably be out to rectify that horror show and avenge it. They will see we are on the ropes with form and injuries and know we are there for the taking.

I’d see it more, they go 2 up and relax a bit. We then score one and they step up. Look at how games panned out after we scored.

I was - and am - mystified by Marti's post-match remarks, and their complete at odds-ness with some of our fans' feedback here. There's an absolute chasm between them.

'We're frustrated because of the final result,” Cifuentes admitted.

“We are angry. We played against a good team . . . but I think it was a game with good spells for both teams, good moments for both teams.'

What's he 'angry' about exactly? It doesn't seem to be the same things as those on LfW - that's for sure (putting in the hard yards, competing, taking up positions etc. etc).

'Cifuentes was proud of his team’s effort and never-say-die attitude as they battled right until the final whistle.

“This is a very honest group,” he said. “We kept pushing and the reality is that this group never gives up.

“We are all angry with the result but I cannot be angry with this team, they are trying everything. With the amount of adversity they are facing, it is very difficult.”'

Eh? Seriously, eh?

Either we have some nutso, overreacting fans among those who travel and/or post here, or our manager's delusional with his view of 'reality'. Which is it? Or does the truth lie somewhere between between the fanaticism and the propaganda?

Last night was the first time this season that I thought we were an improved team with Andersen on the pitch. And also Edwards for Colback in midfield with Fox at the back gave us a better balance!

I can't recall anyone attempting to make a tackle last night, let alone win one, but Middlesbrough were still reliant on Paal & Nardi refusing to convert relatively simple chances!

It wasn't pleasant to watch on Sky, so I can't imagine how bad it was for the Rangers fans at the match.

Take on board earlier comment re Madsen but if the club take on a 6 ft 4 person they should check he is not a scarey cat. Whoever said he is the one for us should be shot. I honestly don't think he would survive in League 2. Nor will Yang. What were Spurs doing? You can watch Edwards and know he is quality in the same way you can watch Yang and know he is way off it. Martin comments last night were extraordinary. He should of apologised to the 400 fans who went up to Boro. The performance was truly awful

Concur. Our best spell was while playing a very defensive set up and relying on Smythe, Kolli and Chair for breakaways. With injuries forcing Marti's hand, I still think a 3CB set, with Edwards being a DM/central CB might be an option, flanked by Morrison/Cook and Fox. Maybe then Smythe and Kaito get more get more crosses in.
