| Update on the pitch 12:23 - Nov 6 with 50503 views | LeanneConnolly | Please see the below sent to members of the CAB by Jamie Willoughby who has given us permission to share. "My main message is to reassure all fans that this issue has the 100% focus of the Club, the board and the ownership group. There has understandably been much speculation amongst fans about what action should or could be taken at this point. We are looking at all available options. Some of the more extreme options have significant technical, logistical and/or regulatory challenges associated with them (and in some cases all three of these!) but we are not ruling anything out. We are working through all of the possibilities with the various 3rd parties involved to assess feasibility. If we consider that any of the options are feasible / deliverable and will materially improve our position, we have the support of the majority ownership group to proceed with them. In the meantime, we continue to carry out remedial work to the pitch and manage the current situation as best we can" [Post edited 6 Nov 12:26]

| Update on the pitch on 19:56 - Nov 24 by TVOS1907 | Me too. Let's just say there are some people involved in what happens at home games who haven't heard anything about this and would be mightily annoyed if hours of work were wasted without prior notification. |
Whilst being mindful of the great work that takes place before home fixtures, if the club genuinely don't know whether the Eastleigh game will be home or away, the safest thing is to plan for it taking place as scheduled This is little different from undertaking work which then falls foul of a late postponement Genuine question: if you'd been approached about the possibility the fixture might be switched, but it was still undecided, would the work put in be any different? I get the "matter of courtesy" point, but the question stands [Post edited 24 Nov 20:36]

Does that mean then, that the work that takes place when a home fixture is in doubt due to the weather, is different from what it would be if there was no doubt about the fixture going ahead? Any significant respect in which it'd differ?

Just seeking clarity You've never been known to bore me to death, so it was worth asking Might be room for a "Spot the Difference" competition...

I doubt it would need to be cut down to 28mm, and it’d be unlikely they’d mark it out. There’s a couple of things for starters, I’d imagine.

| Update on the pitch on 10:09 - Nov 25 with 3254 views | James1980 | Personally I think the club should put out a statement debunking the rumour the game is going to be played in Eastleigh. I know that they can't put out statements in response to every bit of speculation but this is something they should either refute or confirm if it is being discussed as an option. | |

Why don't you go to the source James and phone the club if you intend making plans to travel up from down South? If there is uncertainty i'm sure you will be advised not to purchase train tickets, book a hotel, purchase tickets. I wouldn't take any notice of the rumour, i think the club would have given the fans the heads up by now if they where in discussions to switch the fixture. [Post edited 25 Nov 10:19]

This is true, but the speculation isn't helped by JM alluding to something being sorted fairly soon, just a week or so ago

I hope you get it sorted James, i haven't heard any rumours to be honest but i don't have the ear of anybody at the club anyway. I'm confident the club will do the best they can to solve the problem but feel there has to be an acceptance from all the fans that there will be disruption and inconvenience. I'm sure the Ogden family also feel very inconvenienced. If the end result is a pitch that withstands extreme weather then it will be worth it. Oldham have recently had a new pitch installed and they play games irrespective of the weather, it would be interesting to see what covers they use and the calibre and number of groundstaff they have compared to ours. Both clubs also host Rugby League games.

Dome now going to be employed for Saturday James so you can safely book a room. Another huge outlay by our owners considering the manpower we also have to lay out for as well as the hire I'm sure we are all pleased to be playing but I just hope the state of the pitch after last night doesn't cost us. Jim was far from happy with lack of pitch preparation last time we used it. Hopefully we will all get some comprehensive information about long term plans soon [Post edited 26 Nov 10:52]

Jim was far from happy? I imagine he would have been extactic the game was even on v Aldershot! And the 3 points.

The manager and players will be grateful in respect of the efforts to get games on, they wont expect a perfect pitch in the middle of winter and are more than capable of outperforming most teams, as our home record shows. The owners will have factored in the cost of the dome hire before giving it the green light. The club will update everybody once they have plans in place. We're top of the league, let's try to remain positive, at the end of the day we are going to end up with a pitch that will be fit for purpose. Those running the club will be doing their best, i'm confident of that. We have a lot to look forward to this season, it could end up being fantastic. [Post edited 26 Nov 10:36]

I'm sure he was, but he also expressed his concern at the fact the dome doesn't allow the type of pitch preparation needed for it to be in the best shape possible for his players. We all know how much he thinks about the safety of his players, confirmed by his decision not to play Dev on Saturday so even if he's delighted by getting the game on , his previous comments show he has some concerns.

You're overthinking it i think. He rested Rodney because of the plastic pitch. I didn't go to last nights game but apparently the pitch played ok. Have confidence in your team👍

100% agree and I for one am delighted that the games will both be on and at Spotland this weekend. Communication has been immeasurably better since the Ogdens became involved and if the educated guesses about both the cost of the dome hire and planned remedial works are anywhere near the mark we should all be eternally grateful to them. Imagine the position we would be in now without them. It's safe to say we would no longer be in existence and housing developers would be circling like vultures over Spotland. Things are looking great both now and in the future and I look forward to Mark Hodkinsons follow up to 'The Overcoat men's, there is certainly one hell of a tale to tell about the last decade or so!
