| QPR continue to slide as Saints set off on new march – Report on 17:06 - Nov 6 with 3943 views | Paddyhoops | Apart from Burrell , I thought RND was our best player . Always looking to get forward and at least make something happen . Smyth was decent as always . He busts a gut every time. And still they come. Indeed! | | | |

Absolutely nailed many of our problems and especially spot on about the goal kick routine - 'Without exception, each of these just results in a punt down the field anyway, only under more pressure and in a greater state of panic. Pack it in'.

Yes, we were all out attacking for the 7-8 minutes he was on, but passed forward, looked pacey, and tried to move the ball more than Varane and Madsen had in most of the previous 80.

| QPR continue to slide as Saints set off on new march – Report on 18:43 - Nov 6 with 3510 views | ManinBlack | Don't worry lads that garbage was the best we have played this season judging by the manager's comments. Perhaps for once we had new manager bounce for the unbeaten spell but now normality is back and any bounce has burst. It doesn't seem so long ago that I looked at Ipswich and Southampton as smaller clubs but now it seems most Championship clubs are apparently bigger than us. Must be the finances that has changed this perception of us as a small club. | | | |

‘Jonathan Varane’s through ball’. Have those words ever before been committed to print, I wonder?

It was a quality through ball by Varane for Burrells goal, We've seen he has this in his locker with a similar assist against Charlton iirr Varane needs to be encouraged to do this more as last night's chipped pass shows he has the technical ability alright.

I doubt Southampton or Ipswich have ever been smaller clubs than QPR and definitely not for more than fifty years. Maybe less successful for short periods, but not smaller. And yes, a lot of Championship clubs are bigger than us. We're not a big club, never have been.

Yes, in terms of club size we're probably bottom half championship which is exactly where we are. Bournemouth and Brentford however are smaller and doing just fine which shows it is possible.
| QPR continue to slide as Saints set off on new march – Report on 07:35 - Nov 7 with 2259 views | paddyhdog | Great report thanks Clive. I found watching this game very depressing. Saints clearly there for the taking, but I never believed we would win - and nor did the players from what I could tell. I am supportive of JS he deserves more time, esp the exciting run we had a few games back. But he's deluded saying that was the best we've played this season. We've regressed back to what has been our curse the last few seasons: 1) Poor at home - we're soft as puppy sh1te - teams loving coming to LR. We need to bully teams, make LR a fortress, and give the amazing fans what they deserve 2) Confused tactics. We went back to 'game model' 4-2-3-1 with midgets up front. Even the passing around the back has returned. Are we playing 4-4-2 or not? 3) Losing runs. You can see the players have lost all confidence. Most of the teams in the Champ seem to bounce back after a loss, we seem to go losing for weeks. Breaks my heart. | | | |

We are the masters of false dawns - We have become "oh" far to predictable again. Sheff Utd must be rubbing their hands. Personally I would go with a 5,3,2 formation and try to grind out a point to stop the rot. We need to bin the midget 10's as they will be bullied Saturday. We can always bring them off the bench at 70 minutes if needed and we are chasing the game.

Sheffield Utd have 2 of their own midget 10's Dembele apart from his inability to defend(like sheltering behind a badminton net in the face of a force 10 hurricane) looked as if he had the bit between his teeth attacking wise. Morgan likewise however Saints were just intent in packing the box so KM's passing was quite unchallenged. LIke Morgan he's worth a spot and he's fresh. Great report as always Clive, luckily no one sitting next to you as you would be banged up in Wandsworth ready to be released in time for Sheffield

True. Ipswich have previously been champions of England, FA Cup winners, have won a European trophy and regularly in their Bobby Robson 70s/early 80s heyday would get 25-30k home gates. From 72/73 to 81/82 they finished: 4th, 4th, 3rd, 6th, 3rd, 18th, 6th, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd The season they finished 18th they won the FA Cup. The only time we were probably comparable is when we were regularly playing each other in the 40s and 50s in the Third Division South. Southampton, only one major honour as ourselves but a one club city of approx 270k people. [Post edited 7 Nov 10:57]
