It will be interesting to see in this game what our coaching team have learned from our cup game defeat to York. Hopefully, to have a man on the edge of the area to close down the shot following corners etc. We can't afford to give Newby the time and space he got last time. On a positive note the team should be encouraged by the way we had York rocking for a spell after we had equalised. It should be a great game, hopefully we are ruthless with our chances when they arise and our captain has the correct studs in this week 😄

With Dale in control over most of the game against Boston on Saturday, I don't think our players were over exerted .......decent use of subs afforded some respite for players like Dev, East and Barlow coming on late and two goal hero Smith fitting in timely.
Tomorrow will be a bigger test obviously but with extra recent rest we must be able to match them for fitness.
Should be a good show.

Looking forward to this encounter, and I would think the squad can't wait to show that we are the best team in the league. No injury doubts reported. Smith's confidence is high, so maybe more exposure and goal chances for him, deffo deserves to be playing against York. Beat York and it's definitely a trip to the offy on a school night. Pitch is what it is this season. The club has it all in control, doing what they can. Hopefully a dry Thursday up until the weekend. What a great season so far!

Irrespective of the result we tick off maybe our most difficult fixture tonight. A win would be massive and put clear daylight with games in hand on York, who i think are still the team to beat when it comes to winning the league. A defeat tonight isn't terminal, win against Aldershot on Saturday and that will be 6pts out of a possible 9pts over the week.Picking up wins against the inferior teams will prove to be the deciding factor over the season i think and not neccessarily against our nearest rivals but obviously it's helped beating FGR, Carlisle and Boreham Wood. I think going a bit more direct to Mani will benefit us tonight and get Rodney and Barlow around him. York are strong in midfield and suspect in defence, bypass their midfield and mix it up. Don't die wondering, let's take the game to York because they do concede goals. Start the game quickly because York will. I have a feeling we're going up this year anyway, either by winning the league or via the play offs.

Let's hope we don't just let them hold the ball like their keeper did in the cup game - he must have wasted over 10 mins during the whole game because no one tried to press him. They also passed it better than us in the cup game. Like you said I'd like to see us take the game to them tonight - really show them what a good attacking team we can be.

Agreed - York appear to be very strong hut not infallible. They also appear to have strengthened their squad since we played them in the cup.
We need to be more aggressive and watch Pearce and Stones at all times.
Hope that we don't sacrifice a forward for a midfielder and feel that McBride and Smith will have important roles to play tonight.
If we score first we will see what they are made of, alternatively if the take the lead we need to keep our discipline. As you say don't die wondering. A point would be okay but with our games in hand we should really go for it.
Will be interesting to see how BJ and the management team approach this. Looking forward to a cracker.

Just had a thread on my phone saying York have 3 "first teamers" returning to squad tonight. Maynard said they were down to the bare bones otherwise. They have a bigger squad than us.

Just teed up tonight by watching the Luke Walsh podcast featuring just this game for over an hour. The fact is we have a super away record. York are beginning to hit their straps, so it is a fascinating game to predict. I think the teams could cancel each other out, given the similarities in their playing style. I just hope the lads do us proud. The pressure is certainly on York to win this. An early goal would relieve that pressure. But if we shut them out in the first half i think that pressure will grow as the game goes on. If we win and they are 7 points behind having played 2 games more, that starts to look difficult to turn around. Would love a win. UTD

I see Smith has earnt his start and the more defensive option is at left wing back.
As predicted a great contest in which we are more than holding our own. two really good opportunities missed before their goal. a great response from Dale and cracking goal from Toby.

Second half starts and we completely implode. Two really weak goals from nothing !!

We've had more than enough chances again tonight. Dieseruvwe and Smith first half and McBride criminally not shooting when through. York just taken theirs. Our finishing is letting us down and has done in a few games now.

Unfortunately blown away by a quality team who really went for it in the second half. An uncomfortable watch, but we created enough chances without taking them at critical stages in the game. Particularly the Smith and McBride chances.
We still look a bit lightweight and too nice in comparison to them. They looked the fresher team with more squad strength in depth. Not the end of the world but they certainly exposed our defensive frailties.
Important that we get back on track against Aldershot on Saturday pitch permitting.

Thought we were really good first half and should have been ahead before they scored. Responded well and expected more of the same after the break.
Unfortunately what followed was one of the worst defensive displays seen in recent times with EEL particularly poor. He has two opportunities to deal with that ball over the top for Stones first but didn’t and from that point on we imploded for about 15-20 minutes. Even then we still should have scored a couple more ourselves.
Berkoe just doesn’t offer enough going forward and tonight wasn’t even effective defensively so it’s Allarakhia every time for me and a midfielder needs a rest too. Some good for thought but we were well beaten against a side that have no problem in playing their way knowing they’ve goals guaranteed.

Berkoes early yellow ruined his game and a sub much earlier was required.
We got virtually zero crosses into Mani, 2nd minute aside.
