| Cricket 2026 County/International Thread 10:53 - Jan 31 with 93552 views | Superhoops2808 | https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/ I've started a new thread for the 2026 season, and I've started it now because the T20 World Cup starts a week today. (And in fact 2 months and we will be chatting county cricket red ball) In a group with Italy, Nepal and Scotland and a pretty solid squad I expect that we will progress beyond the group stage. After that who knows and will depend on fitness. Curran and Salt played very well in the first game warm up game v Sri Lanka but tougher tests are ahead. Anyway, here is the squad for England (albeit still provisional). Harry Brook (captain), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Josh Tongue, Luke Wood. Be relying on Archer to stay fit (as per usual) - But hope that Brook finally stands up as captain, and Banton and Jacks perfom like we know they can at county level. If all that clicks should be a good watch. | | | | |

Also read that he's just recovered from cancer. Aussies 187 for 6, Cummins and Renshaw fighting back currently with a 50 partnership.

| Cricket 2026 County/International Thread on 13:01 - Oct 22 with 1076 views | numptydumpty | Shame Harry Brook was out off the final ball of ODI against Sri Lanka. But 429 for 4 with Brook 202 runs off 116 balls. The numbers and stats are totally wild, compared to those of us, who watched county cricket in the 70s and 80s. Chris Tavare possibly might not get a look in at international level anymore. In fact, I think I would get more game time chances than Tavare today. Its a different game though now and one day cricket more resemblant to baseball than first class cricket of old. Buy even by todays standard, some innings by Brook. [Post edited 22 Oct 13:02]

Brook is a sensational talent. He has it all at his feet if he applies himself in test cricket and just maybe Fleming will get to the bottom of him. Much as I like seeing England do well, I still run pretty cold at swipe after swipe after swipe going into the stands. Give me the SA v Aus test any day, proper cricket.

Test cricket is by far the more interesting and intriguing game. I think because so many players and teams can get boundary after boundary, which is probably more down to the talent and abilities of the players, as some of them like Brook make it look too easy, so one day cricket can appear very simple. Test cricket though agree is more the grand masters of chess tournaments, by way of comparison. [Post edited 22 Oct 13:35]

Yes they can lose it. | |

| Cricket 2026 County/International Thread on 16:09 - Oct 25 with 238 views | Hoopstar | Pretty impressive losing both the last two games. Brook is a joy to watch bat, and clearly the best all-format player in the world right now, but jury is still out on his captaincy. | | | |
| Cricket 2026 County/International Thread on 16:36 - Oct 25 with 205 views | OldPedro | 3 very poor results for England. Lost convincingly to Pakistan in the first game, some failed to defend a total of 429 and then today failing to win a game with only 1 wicket needed and 88 runs to play with. | |

Fantastic losses - first such turnarounds I experienced in my lifetimes of watching was Botham's Ashes of 1981. Appreciate not the same with ODI's but severely impressive to lose two such games consecutively from positions of near invincibility. Well done England !!!
