For my birthday, my daughters got me a framed photo of HQ from 1928.
It’s really fascinating to see how it used to be. They only started building the White City Estate in the 1930’s and I guess that the big buildings to the west in the photo are left over from the Great Exhibition - the original ‘White City’.
The only stand was Ellerslie Road and that stayed there until it was finally replaced in 1972 ( perfect timing by Jim Gregory, as that was the year we got promoted to 1st division). I still remember that when a ball was kicked on to the roof of the old stand pre 1972, there would be a shower of rust falling on the spectators below.
Also interesting that the entrances in Loftus Road and Ellerslie Road have remained unchanged.
Anyway, I thought that it was worth sharing. Hope the link works.

Yes remember that well and in the good old days you would change ends at half time... so 1st half in the school end... and then round to the loft end for the 2nd half .. after a half time roll down the SA slope.... |  | | |

That little tea bar had a huge teapot on the counter, my first game at LR 1958 my big brother took me I was fascinated by that tea bar, late in the second half a punch up started behind us (all elderly blokes) I thought It was brilliant to watch but me Brother grabbed me and we had to get out of there, he made me promise to not tell our old Dad or I wouldn't be allowed to go again.
My eldest Lad got me three black and white prints that I've had framed and all the below items are hanging on the wall In my Man cave.
1) QPR team 1949-1950
2) Aerial picture of the ground c1927
3) QPR team photo 1947-1948
4) I have two signed and framed large pictures of Stan, I saw Stan drinking In The General Smuts before an evening game, I asked him If he'd sign a picture and he said of course, I went quickly to the club shop got the biggest framed picture I could find of him , bloody expensive ran back to the Smuts and he signed It, I bought Stan and his two Mates a pint, walked all the way back to the car, parked near the Crown and Sceptre, put the picture safely In the boot of the car, walked back to the ground, haven't got a memory of what the score was.

Griffin Park looked a lot more developed in 1935 than Loftus Road (1928). Presumably this reflects that QPR were Division 3 Sth. in those days, whereas Bees were promoted to the (old) First Division for season 1935/36. | | | |

It says the GP photo was taken in 1957. I used to go in the late 60s, on the bus from Hounslow West with mates, when I was around eleven. That photo is how I remember the ground.
