I agree, we don’t know what is happening behind the scenes other than probably the offer needs to be improved upon.
Maybe this low-ball offer is saying that we are happy to sell him for the right price if it comes along so we’ll offer a low offer to attract bidders? Who knows? |  |

I agree, we don’t know what is happening behind the scenes other than probably the offer needs to be improved upon.

We can only hope that things have been thought through and being done for the right reasons, for the good of the club, and not trying to be 'clever'.

That’s a fact. His agent is doing what agents do, the issue isn’t greed at the moment it’s what happens in football. He wants the best deal. I don’t think we will stretch to what he wants ultimately. Players and agents live on a parallel universe. They are ridiculously well paid and I know people say it's the going rate and would you turn it down etc. However practically every club is making a loss. Fans have to pay a lot of money to watch the games in an age where inflation and prices of everything have gone through the roof. They seem to be oblivious to it all. | | | |

I (and I am sure many of were) was worried about how much of a loss he would be when he got injured but fair play to the other players who have really stepped up.
He is clearly a very good player who we would all want to keep if we can, but you can build a statistical argument to say he wouldn't be as much of a loss as we think.
He is in the 98th percentile for touches in the entire league, but his return is 3 goals and 1 assist. Granted his appearances have been mixed in terms of position, but even when playing at RB he has been fairly advanced and play continued to channel through him.
Interestingly since he has been injured our total possession stats have dropped off, but it feels like our play has been a bit quicker and more effective.
The eyeball test continues to conclude he is a Rolls Royce of a player, but I would certainly like to see him earn his corn through more goal contributions next season - we know he can do it. | | | |

Indeed
It’s all well and good spouting to the media about how great fans are and clapping them at end of games but they will soon forget any fan if they can get more money mar the top two diving’s they can earn a very good living indeed and provide a future the likes of which great players of yore could only dream about , people like Ivor Allchurch for example
Many folk have had to accept less wages on their ordinary lives but not these
During Covid , their demands perpetuated

We don't want to be building bridges in the summer. Possibly he's looked at the Vipotnik deal and thinks there more available. Again possibly the signing on fee and bonuses are the stumbling block. Perhaps we should have left negotiations until next year, there would still have been up to 2 years left on his contract. The truth will come out one day, possibly in the upcoming window. |  | | |

I made exactly the same point. We have him for 3 more years, so why the rush? Also, he wasn't setting the World on fire at Orient. We found a lump of coal and polished it into a diamond. Why should we be punished for that? | | | |
