What on earth Is the thought behind docking them Two points?
As a club you can now carry out financial breaches similar to WBA knowing full well You'll only get a Two point deduction.

Crazy set up so the league can salvage the team they want to stay up. The other side of this is they would be misleading punters who do acca’s at the start of the season if they issued a heavy points deduction, it’s a bit like slowing the hare in a greyhound race, which I’ve seen done but is a criminal offence.
There should be an agreed date before the start of the season so everyone knows where they stand. |  | | |

I first referred to this sliding scale back in 2021.
The penalty for breaching of the 3 season P&S reporting rules is a deduction of 12 points to commence in the season following the breach.
The following number of points shall be deducted from the 12 points
9 points if the breach was less than £2.0m
8 points if between £2m and £4m
7 points if between £4m and £6m
6 points if between £6m and £8m
5 points if between £8m and £10m
4 points if between £10m and £12.5m
3 points if between £12.5m and £15m
No deduction if the breach is greater than £15m
Then the balance shall be further reduced if the loss in the final season is less than the season(s) before.
So if WBA's breach was less that £2m and they made a smaller loss than in the season before it was the right punishment. | | | |
