Paul Smyth is definitely your archetypal qpr fans favourite.
Always puts in 100% effort, sometimes he showcases his not to be sniffed at talents and sometimes he is a great attacking outlet.
On other days, he is frustrating and nothing seems to work, but his work rate and occasional skill means he will never be a boo boy of the fans.
He is not top quality, but he is good enough to do well for ourselves at the levels, we are currently operating in.
His superb double back flips add to his mystique.
He has spent a long time here with a mini break in the middle.

And in true QPR style we rate the effort over the output. Yes Smyth has had a decent couple of months but he’s average. The new Jamie Mackie, who was also average but a fans favourite.
Don’t forget Paddy Kenny got POTY over Adel in our promotion season, we love a bit of effort.

For all our completely valid complaints and disillusionment this season in terms of likeability and/or admirable qualities there’s quite a few in our squad these days. Smyth has some great qualities as does Dunne, Cook, Ronnie and Madsen, particularly for his redemption story. There’s also a lot to be admired for Mbengue and Kone and their incredible journey against the odds to become professional footballers at all. Apart from those that stand out there’s a lot of others that seem perfectly nice and hardworking guys.
While we can have many queries about what’s going on in the club that’s one aspect that is improved since past years. We have many that seem like the right sort. |  | | |

I have to agree. Compared to the Mick Beale era of ballers/ball-ache for whom giving 100% to the club seemed about as appealing as a lap dance in Mordor, we now seem to have some really good sorts. Completely agree with the names you mentioned but players like Bennie and Mbengue, even RND, whose performances can divide opinion all seem to be players who get QPR in ways that the Laird / Roberts-types never could. |  |

Spot on James on both points.
Sick of the injuries and fitness issues (both are a problem seemingly).
Like the rest of the guys too including those you mentioned. Even the ones who have struggled this season, like Koki, seem okay guys just having a rough time on the pitch. The only one this season I haven’t warmed to is Celar but that’s another conversation. | | | |

Yes I could have mentioned all of those too - didn’t mean to leave them out or anyone really. Walsh seems a nice guy and Nardi. They’re all pleasant and the issues don’t relate to being agreeable or not.
The Laird/Roberts/Richards types were completely different as were the Barton/Wright-Phillips/Assou-Ekottu and Lynch ones from further back who I actively disliked. | | | |
