Footie is a good example. If you wanted to play, you could get a game somewhere even if it's just a kickabout with friends or five a side at work or something. Or some local walking football group or something. There's options. You're not going to be Pele but you can have fun.
Likewise you're not going to be Eddie Van Halen but you just learn bits here and there.
Look at that. You could just listen and try to play along, or try to watch his fingers. Or you could look at the notation which is telling you what fret to play for each note.
Just watch a few seconds at a time or even slow the video down (it won't lower the audio). It's all there now. Anything you want to learn probably has something like this for it.

I loved playing drums too. Took it up at a similar age having bought a Pearl kit after seeing a small ad in the Melody Maker. Formed a band with some schoolmates and we had a great time thrashing around in a back room at my parents’ house (the neighbours weren’t quite as enthusiastic).
Alas, a back injury and shin splints (probably caused by an imperfect bass drum technique) put paid to any further progress.
If I was starting from scratch I think I would choose a smaller, more portable instrument. On a trip to Cuba many years ago, I remember a musician friend-of-a-friend, a flute player, who always had the thing to hand. She was able to jam with the many rhumba groups, that seemed to appear out of nowhere, at a moment’s notice - not so easy if you’re a kit drummer or double bassist!

Self taught on the guitar although as someone's already said, tablature makes it really accessible. First song I learned was Mull of Kintyre by Wings which is probably the Steve Davis of guitar music but it gets you going.

I'm self taught. I was very fortunate when I decided to take up the guitar because when a colleague, who played bass in a band, heard I wanted to have a go, he very kindly borrowed a guitar from his band's guitarist, so I could see how I got on.
It was a beauty, a Fender Stratocaster, possibly a made in the USA edition, because my colleague told me it cost £700. This was in 1992. Thank God I didn't break it .

I play an assortment of instruments.
Guitar being my principal instrument, I can also.play bass, organ and harmonica reasonably well.
I also own a sitar which I used on a single.
I was an underground musician and have LPs out and had my own record label too releasing new punk, indie and garage bands.
But I haven't touched an instrument since having children.
Life has basically taken hold... job, kids, money thats my.life now

Self-taught here. The thing for me was concert videos of bands and trying to figure out what they were doing. And here's the thing, even if you're only 70% correct, you're still basically playing the tune. And learning easier songs by bands like The Cure got me into playing and figuring stuff out and then that gave me the skills to start attempting harder stuff. I think I first heard Metallica and Hendrix when I was 14/15ish and that was me good for a few years in terms of having stuff to figure out.

I've got an extensive and ever growing list of hobbies I plan to take up when the kids are older, so it's a firm "shit yeah go for it" from me.
I've got a guitar, a harmonica, Roland compact 303/808, and a cajon drum box. -- all of them barely ever used. But I'm definitely going to pick some of them up when I find time! And get back into DAW music... And writing ... And DJing.... And maybe painting... And.
Edit. I did buy my 8 Year old daughter an electric drum kit for Xmas, and she loves it, so thats cool. At least she's having a nice time I guess

I had to look DAW up. I used to have a Tascam Portastudio which used cassette tapes. I made multitrack recordings playing various instruments but by the time a recording was finished I was heartily sick of it.
