He's done some stuff that I like and others that I'm not keen on which makes it feel like one step forward 2 back quite often. I struggle to feel the love for him that some clearly do but also don't quite hate him as much as some on here seem to. He's a bit meh, quite similar to a lot of our ceo's going back years, lots of talk but I don't see a great deal of difference between what we're doing now and what we were doing 5 years ago. I'm a bit worn down with all the spin and bullshit but that snot a new thing either.
For all the best laid plans you are always a good transfer window away from promotion and bad one from relegation and I don't see that changing whoever the ceo is or what his plans are. You can get the stars align as they did under Warnock or make some cracking signings on paper which don't work and set you back 10 years as we did under Hughes. |  | | |

One thing you could say there has certainly been a lot of change.
I think there is promise. But its a tough gig for anyone.
We have on average been having the same season over and over again. Us, Preston and Bristol City are the perennial championship mid to lower table dwellers.
i do give Christian one thing, he certainly is a trier.

No one should be subject of unpleasant personal comments. However. there has been a lot of messaging that does not reflect the lived experience of fans and a rise in odd stuff on this message board at certain points. Given past events it is not surprising that people get the hump at the hype.
It is right that supporters should be realistic but for anyone who watched the great teams of the past knows that hope is a wonderful thing when watching your team play.
A small club in size of stadium and fanbase has always had a big heart and close bond with its fans.
Whether imagined or real there is a need to feel a connection with the people in charge, lose that connection and you lose something special.
If you have a full 60,000 stadium with Premiership funding streams then you can afford to be indifferent towards the fanbase, treat them as consumers and spout corporate jargon with little real world impact. For clubs like QPR, that is not an effective model.
The reality is that the fundamentals have not changed in terms of league position, the consistency of performance, any form of playing 'identity' or any coherent strategy that I can see in terms of recruitment.
I am unclear whether the overall strategy is to build a team that can challenge for promotion or a staging post to develop and sell on players to try and become profitable, or both? Maybe it is all three, staging post, then profitable, then challenge? If the latter then this is a long process and after three years there are not many green shoots.
As others have said, I think the next season is a critical one, if all of these recent signings improve in a similar fashion to Madsen then through sales and an improvement in league position the picture will look very positive.
My niggling worry is a vibe of hype over substance. I genuinely hope those feelings are misplaced and this is the season when we can feel and touch real progress on and off the pitch. One measure (for me) will be to see more effort to reconnecting with the people who have so much passion for the club |
Fernandez had lots of heart and fan connection but that didn’t translate into successful stewardship.
Nourry’s PR is not great but I’m much more interested in the substance.
As for hype, I would say Nourry’s messaging has actually been quite downbeat: he has stated pretty clearly that immediate promotion is not a realistic ambition and it is about developing players to sell, reinvest and then at some (unspecified) time, aim for promotion.
Sounds fairly reasonable to me, albeit at some point he will need to show progress and a rough time frame. No one has offered an alternative strategy as far as I’m aware.
Even his critics on here acknowledge that he needs another season to be judged on player sales.
Totally get it hasn’t happened yet but to Hunter’s point we weren’t even getting 3m for a Kelman type very often before. And our cast offs were going for free whereas now we are often picking up small fees: there has been some progress, albeit modest.
You started off by saying (correctly) that nobody should be subject to abuse. As previously reported, even Nourry’s sister has faced online trolls. I can’t help but thinking some of the disproportionate, and seemingly herd-like, animosity to him on here can’t exactly help. | | | |
