I was there as a nineteen year old.
Just wondering how many people are left who saw the game.

I was at the semi final but not the final.
I wasn't tempted to go & buy from a tout as I wasn't sure I could afford their prices & didn't want to miss the game. All pubs were closed by kick off time (unless remaining open illegally) & watching television at home was the only option.
My brother was there, but he's no longer with us as he died this time last week. |

I was in Wembley that day, 64 Elmstead Avenue to be precise. |
I wasn't in Wembley as dad had decided that 4 Brent Way, with the stadium looming over the back garden, was too close to the mayhem that was likely, so we went to Rimini for two weeks. Watched the final in an italian bar full of Germans! All very friendly. |  | | |

As a 14 year old, I went to 3 games at the tournament. England - France, Mexico- Uruguay? (at White City) & England - Portugal. | | | |

Brent Way, you'd have been a neighbour of (now Clacton) Graham, and the Cotter's come to think of it.

My brother and I saw the England games as my dad was involved with the TV Reminds me of my Uncle Bennie. He was at every Cup Final for about 30 years but didn't like football so disappeared for a cuppa and a fag when match was on. Never saw even a ball kicked. |  | | |

My mates mum worked the box office at the stadium. Went to the Final and dozens of events at the stadium and the Empire Pool, as was. |
Bit like me Perps, one of my dad's mates was a foreman at the Pool, I got freebies or if not free, face value tickets for loads of events that was on there or at the stadium. | |

At that time I was foremost a Chesham United supporter & the club got us tickets for the West Ham v Munich1860 European Cup Winners Cup Final, Benfica v Manchester United European Cup Final & Ajax v Panathinaikos European Cup Final.
For these games & most internationals they could get as many tickets as they wanted as they were full members of the FA. Limited tickets were available for FA Cup Finals & England v Scotland games, but they had to be raffled as demand was a lot more! | | | |
