| More money...more, more, give me more.... the ever increasing greed in football on 11:56 - Aug 1 by QPunkR | UEFA posted a poorly-written follow up statement this morning basically declaring a loss of faith in Infantino. The end could be close for this clown with any luck! |
Let's hope he falls on his sword or someone pushes him on it. But I doubt it will be the end of FIFA's corrupt dealings. Who would have thought FIFA would get worse after Blatter left?

The problem is the whole stinking edifice of FIFA is rotten. Jack Warner last year finally escaped extradition to the US to face corruption charges. The World Cups in Russia, Qatar and Saudi were/are all as bent as fck. In the long run, a new President isn't going to help much. It needs to be scrapped and a new world football authority founded. Not that I'm holding my breath.

That’s all they did though…. renamed/rebranded. That can add as many tournaments etc as they like as long as it’s all self controlled, even if it does bring in extra money. This is different in that they were trying to sell a big chunk of something (that doesn’t belong to them) to investors which effectively means those investors want returns. So, tournaments etc become a necessity and all the players are flogged to death (as they will probably be contractually obliged ‘cos they didn’t read the small print and their agent just waived over it) in order to do that rather than it being ‘for the love of the game’ and a non-profit venture that is there for everyone to enjoy (copyright last century) which is what FIFA is meant to be.

Absolutely. Let's see how far Argentina will be up Infantino's arse when they're playing the FIFA World Cup against Morocco and Senegal.

| More money...more, more, give me more.... the ever increasing greed in football on 17:16 - Oct 11 with 497 views | KensalT | Simon Kuper on why Infantino will probably remain as FIFA President I have to say the whole system is even more corrupt than I realised: "Infantino understood the central fact about Fifa: it’s a patronage system. Almost all its income comes from one source: the men’s World Cup, started by Fifa in 1930. That income is divided among the 211 national football federations. Each member association, regardless of size, was entitled to up to $9.2mn over the four-year cycle up to 2026. The system fails India, the country where football has most scope to grow, while overfunding the Caribbean island of Montserrat (population 4,300). Nicholas McGeehan, director of the campaign group FairSquare, says, “I’ve spoken to a couple of people in development and told them the model, and they don’t believe you when you tell them how it works.” The model makes no sense as a way to develop football. But it makes perfect sense as a way for Fifa’s incumbent president to please poor federations, especially as Montserrat has one vote in Fifa’s council, the same as India." [Post edited 11 Oct 17:44]

I've loved the game all my life but these days, sometimes I hate myself for doing so.
