He is yesterdays man here. Kone is very much part of the squad and is a team man. Probably wrong as I said but he is not wanted. Its getting quite boring now.
I would Kolli to be competing for a place too, but he is very far down the daisy chain and he is clearly not wanted. We all know this, not much point banging on about it anymore Connell.

I said they said the club didnt take him on the pre seasonntour because he came back pre season unfit and Stephan said he was not putting in effort in training.

Dave Mcintyre said he thinks Kolli has played his last game for the club. Its a shame but as said its disappointing but thats it.
His career has been short and on a very steep upward curve, but this the first time things are not happening for him. It's a big test for him mentally to turn it around and I think he will. Ironically the injury may help him.

I think with Kone the basic fact is he’s not matchfit/still carrying something and hasn’t been right since the end of last season
I hate the encroaching Rangers tendency to start writing him off - he carried our front line single handedly through the second half of last season alone and never had a day off so I’m not surprised his body is punching back.
Even today he monstered their centre backs a few times and got some nice layoffs off, and the player from last season who was strong, confident and bullied the oppo is still in there
If we’ve learned anything from Madsen let’s acknowledge that some players need confidence to operate and we already know Kone has it in him

He had to play pretty much every minute last season because he was available when others weren’t, at times he was heavily strapped and looked in need of a rest but played on anyway because he was all we had, hence my flogged to death comment. Nothing to do with his running style.
He picked up an injury in pre-season that he appears to still be struggling with.
This is the first time he’s not been available and the first time he’s struggled for form, and how do some of the ‘supporters’ treat him?
His availability last season has been long forgotten, no credit in the bank apparently. His goals and performances last season have also been long forgotten, again no credit in the bank.
It wasn’t long ago we had Dykes & Bonne, now we have Burrell & Kone who are both far better and yet people still aren’t happy and need a boo boy. I guess some thrive off being miserable.
We had Dykes who scored pretty much the same record as Kone.
And right now, there is little evidence of an upgrade. This idea Kone is miles better than Dykes is another myth. He really isn’t on evidence so far.

Agreed. A young player that we should be giving a chance to grow. Some very dismissive comments as you say. He'll be getting described as dross soon at this rate.

I think one difference could be that the squad as a whole has vastly improved what with pace and higher skill factors whilst Richard has slightly regressed.
It’s now up to the coaches to bring him up to the required level to be part of this team.

Honestly what is it with this nonsense that he “never had a day off” and was “flogged to death” last season. It’s lazy group think.
Anyone would think the guy was 35 years old and had played 65+ games last season In some kind of marathon.
He was 22 years old, and started 38 games.

“Got flogged to death” is a myth.
He played like 40 games. He was 22 years old not 35 years old. And I expect a 22 year old to be able to play 40 games at this level. It wasn’t like some 65-game marathon European season.
I think people assume he was “flogged to death” as his running style looks like he’s half waddling / injured. And he always looks pretty laboured, mainly because yes a heavy lad.
Doesn’t move like a 22 year old does he?

To be clear I’ve never written him off and still won’t. Only that I never understood the hype around him because he’s got serious deficiencies in his all round game.
But no doubting his biggest strength is his finishing ability, but he was billed as a hold up striker. He’s not that. Lacks the required touch and technique to do so. Like Dykes did.
I’ve got him down as an 8-12 goal a season man. Nothing wrong with that.

I've wondered whether he might be underplaying his condition and or pain to the coaches / medical team. Those huge legs dont seem to have strength in them at the moment

No originally you were quoting from the last WLS podcast and you said Dave and James were saying Kolli was unfit and wasn't training, which if you go back and watch again they didn't say . You must have misheard what they actually said mate .ill leave it there now its been cleared up.
