Don’t know about the Vardy thing but I thought I heard the crowd at some stage cast aspersions over his wife’s historical lack of moral standards???

Franco was wound up about something at the end. Think he'd had words with Vardy

I enjoyed it myself
Burnley will sort it out I feel
For the life of me I can’t see how our full backs are rated so high
Both tackle poorly
Welsh on particular covers this up
He is going to be our best ever CH on modern times on the level of Ash

The role of a modern full back has many facets, both our full backs do this very well, possibly why Tymon was in the team of the season last year. As well as defending they are expected to push forward, supply width and create chances, plus they both provide an overload in midfield when required. The days of a full back just defending, marking the wide player and stopping crosses has long gone.

Key did this superbly during the first half topped off with that superb run almost to the Burnley penalty area. We need that more often from both of them as they commit defenders which then opens up space for others

But their primary job is to defend and for a growing number of games under Matos Tymon has improved dramatically last season and Key has not had the number of games as Tymon given his now ongoing injury issues but he has improved. The defensive record this season so far have more or less shown their improvement, ok maybe helped by the pairing of Lissah and Welsh.

Against Southampton we were 2-0 down like Burnley were against us today, both games were brought back to a goal behind and in both games the third goal was scored because of the losing team trying to play with the football in the wrong place and over committing players forward.
I didn't think we played particularly well at times Widell out on the wing always having to turn back looking for options for the most part Tymon had to provide, making his work load unfeasible, he tired noticeable in the last 10 minutes as did Widell before coming off.
After the early games changes to throw ins we have reverted to trying to play the short throw to players and been caught out, the throw too high to control effectively with the feet and end up being closed down, the idea of one player coming short and one going long to move defenders around and get us possession of the ball further up the pitch has gone, not one throw down the line or into space created by movement.
The question of who should be in our midfield has come to light again, is Stamenic the answer, does Eustaquio give us that movement to improve our speed going forward, Widell now on the left wing, Just playing not to everybody's expectations,We won today but gave away too much possession we let Burnley play a number of long balls unchallenged, where the high presses executed well enough given those balls or were we fortunate that Burnley's playing out from the back was so poor at times

More than happy to win today but even Matos seemed a bit withdraw given the nature of the performance.

Isn't it great to be critical after a win.

Standards are high, lets keep them up

Your last sentence sums Key and Tymon up perfectly , neither defend very well, don’t mark their opponents tight enough and don’t stop crosses but both are good going forward
They are good wingbacks but we play a system that needs fullbacks , who have to defend and the space and time we give opposition widemen will cost us as the season progresses ,unless we get them to do the defensive work properly

They are playing better as fullbacks but they are being asked to tuck in at times because if our midfielders are joining the press a space appears behind our midfield especially if our defensive midfielder sit too deep, leaving room for better teams to drive down the middle our fullbacks tuck in to stop the drives forward leaving space out wide. Most teams only commit three players to a press which allows the midfield to remain in place blocking the path through the middle while allowing the fullbacks get closer to the wingers, a press should be about squeezing the opposition team into a corner leaving them very little option off the ball carrier leaving the only option to give the ball back to the goalie to play the long ball if you commit too many players to a press then better teams will walk straight through you if it is not done effectively players left unmarked in the middle or out wide or spaces left for them to attack all about balancing your attack and defence at different stages of the game.
Luckily Burnley were poor at the back trying to play possession football but they had enough about them to raise concerns. They should have scored more while Vigouroux pulling off some fine saves.

There seems to be an expectation that Key and Tymon are capable of stopping every cross as if that was remotely likely and they get lambasted when they don't.

As has been said earlier, modern fullbacks are required to carry out many jobs and it's basically impossible to do all of them at 100%. If you're bombing forward, then occasionally a gap will appear behind you. If you're sitting deep, then you're not going to support your winger enough. That's not them being poor fullbacks, that's just the reality of the modern fullback role.

Feels more like criticisms are being manufactured to suit agendas rather than anything organic developing.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Yes that’s all well and good but their fundamental ability should be to defend wide areas
Neither Key nor Tynon are IMO are that adept at this
Quality wide men stroll past them and get crosses in
Let me add both are top grade professionals and club men which is getting rarer these days
Thank you

Absolutely spot on 👌

Some people think that full backs just defend, those days are long gone.

You have perfectly explained what they do now, some need to realise this and stop getting at key and tymon, they are both cracking full backs.

I’ve always liked both. Key was excellent today before his injury. We are lucky if the injury is bad that Lissah can slot back in at right back. One game to go before a break I think we all would prefer to do without club wise. But of course there’s four Wales games to … enjoy.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

You can see the agendas a mile off.

Happens with other players too. A couple of games ago Vipi had a chance that the keeper made a superb save on (Derby I think) and loads were slagging Vipotnik off for it as if the keeper was an irrelevance to the matter.

Sometimes the winger will get the better of a fullback. It doesn't make the fullback bad at being a fullback no matter how desperate some sad cases are to claim otherwise.

What I will say to this is Vipotnik needs a little bit more extra effort and he was right on his man yesterday. That’s my only criticism on this match. If the team is being judged on their press it starts up top. Lincoln will be an interesting fixture, they are very much hot and cold. Idah to start though.

As I said both have played better as fullbacks this season , would add that when the tactic of going down the flanks has been countered the play needs to be changed to find the gaps in the middle and then back out to the wings.

At the moment we are exploring and finding different ways to to change games, what was disappointed with the Southampton game, we had found a way back into it but left ourselves wide open to getting caught out. Very much like watching Martin and William's mantra which has got found too often when your team set up isn't spot on.

Last season Vipotnik was our focal point and we played to him. This season we aren't. We're playing a higher press style which suits Idah's willingness to run the channels a lot more. It's not an effort issue. It's a style issue. Like playing a shortarse upfront and knocking it long. The shortarse may work like a Trojan, but it's still not going to be as effective.

That will take some adjusting on Vipotnik's part, but also the other players and the fans. If Vipi gets 10-15 goals this season playing in a style not as tailored to him as last season was then that's almost as impressive in my book.

The bonus would be if we can work out the ability to change styles depending on who we've got upfront, as that may help in dealing with our "low block" issues.

After watching lissah in a few games hes definitely a better centre half at this level, even though hes a great footballer his lack of pace at full back is evident, hes been shown up in the last 2 games.

Yes I am sure I will enjoy the wales away games, away double header is going to be good.

6 days away, just chilling enjoying my retirement from the fire service but straight back on it in the middle of next month, mortgage needs to be finished off.

They aren’t really getting strolled past, we are just getting turned over when they are higher up the pitch.

If that’s the game Matos wants us to play, they aren’t even out of position, they are attacking as instructed.

We’ll have to accept that teams will and already do target the gaps behind our fullbacks. Our deeper midfielders do tend to drop back when a fullback bombs on, but yes it’s not the same as having a defensive fullback there.

It’s a weakness in our system, but for me it’s overridden by the extra attacking threat it gives us.

Seven games, four wins, scored eleven, conceded five (three of them away to one of the best teams in the league). Second in the table.

Plus Idah is much faster than Vipotnik, when we break at pace he is more likely to be in the opposition box.

A win yesterday is another 3 points in the bag but we will come up against much harder games as Southampton showed, but you can only beat whats up against you on the day so well done everyone on and off the field, we must really concentrate on next weeks game and keep our feet on the ground and ensure we continue with our winning form and get the consistency into our game, then have a break for the coaches to have time to work with and gel the squad to get even better

We will play more teams like Burnley than Southampton. They were a cut above and we were hands up beaten by a better team.

If we keep playing the way we have been, top eight is a very realistic proposition.

We need to get Vipotnik fully match fit, which isn’t easy when Idah deserves to be starting. We’d have two very different but very effective options up front then. I think Vipotnik is a better bet against teams like Wrexham and Sheffield United, while Idah is the man in the more open games. Hopefully Slovenia can do us a favour in the international break.

How many of our players will be away on international duty and of the others I'm sure some might be on holiday the first week or so of the three.

Last season we asked the question where would be if we other players than Vipotnik adding to the goal tally, three different players scoring today, early days but a health table position and goal difference.
Quick balls forward causing teams problems, playing through the middle, wingers coming in off the wings, turning centre backs when the flanks have beenclosed down.
Nice to see Vipotnik getting goals but also others contributing.
