What grinds the granny out of me is sticking rigidly to this pre-planned changes on 60'ish minutes approach. That level of intransignce is not a good look for a Manager/coach in my opinion. Effect the game - it's one of the core reasons for your job!!

There is too much chat around the Club about 3 games a week, including Mr JS, and how unfair it is and how difficult it makes it, how tough it is for the players, etc, etc, etc.........come and play back in the 1960s & 70's and then they will know how tough it can be, travelling to places like Hull leaving Loftus at 7.30am for a 3pm Kick Off - Just get on with it and stop moaning & groaning.

Totally agree. We've also barely travelled during the course of those three games, as well as having an extra day within which we completed those matches, and playing dire Derby too. That's in stark contrast to newly-promoted Bolton, who had successive away games at Wolves and Southampton and it didn't seem to affect their performances in either of those two difficult games. Too much whinging from us, for mine, on this particular matter. [Post edited 19 Oct 15:30]

We've been doing it for ever, as have most other clubs if you pay attention. That said, if we end the next game with 10 players for the same reason again I shall be somewhat peeved, possibly with profanity.

Ha was thinking that earlier! They have all the support staff available, cutting edge sports science, they play on pristine pitches in training and in matches, so why do they keep breaking down? I do still think the stupid five subs rule means they play at a higher intensity for longer over 90 minutes, but with things like yoga, pilates, calisthenics etc. are they not able to be more supple and avoid soft tissue injuries?

I also think that having 5 subs leads to more injuries as the ones who have played the 90 minutes will be more knackered than the fresh legs off the bench.Especially defenders and midfielders who are having to work harder to chase those players coming on.

Yeah we do seem to think we are the only one's doing a three game week. It comes back to fitness and conditioning again and something we have all noticed hasn't been right for three years now. I thought we looked fitter at the start of this season but eleven games in the same issues are recurring. Hats off to Bolton maybe they don't look for the excuse before they have even played. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Using up the three allowed windows to only use four of the subs is not smart. Maybe change one at half time leaving three opportunities for substitutions. Alternatively, use two windows for two subs each and keep one available until near the end of the game.
