| After The Lord Mayor’s Show – Report on 12:39 - Nov 2 by RBlock | I don't know what it is with Vale at the moment, clearly a man out of form, but last season there were times when he was throwing himself into 50/50s, tracking back well and getting through a solid amount of defensive work in the midfield. Clearly that wasn't the case on Saturday, but don't think that's representative. Rocks and diamonds player, who has been a fair bit more rocks of late. |
I genuinely don't know what his role in the side is. Every other player I can see what they are supposed to be doing, even if they have a poor game. Vale, I just do not have a clue.

That bloke who lost it in the long black coat was angry enough in the Chapel Arms before the game where me and the old man were half-watching the Chelsea United game. Tough watch when both can't lose.

| After The Lord Mayor’s Show – Report on 12:45 - Nov 2 by Jeff | there was something really off about Vale's positioning on Saturday, and i can't work out if it's player or Manager's fault. Vale was ostensibilty the left winger, but he spent the overwhelming majority of his 60 minutes so inverted that he basically played as a 10 - he was rarely, if ever, ahead of Kemper, which meant that we had absolutely no width down that side to speak of. we then brought on Saito, who is about as close to an old fashioned chalk on boots touchline winger as we have, and he occupied exactly the same '10' role, and was even more innefective than Vale was. which makes me think that was by design as opposed to player decision, but if that is the design, why not bring Chair on instead, who's made his whole career being the left winger in the 10? |
I expect Vale and Saito played where Stephan wanted them to, rightly or wrongly. From QPR+ admittedly, but Chair didn't look to me like he could do much more than the few minutes he got.

For me he gave the ball away repeatedly, missed tackles , positioning all over the shop and slowed down the play . Is there anywhere to see old match reports as I put his performance on a par with Barton's at Burnley and I'm interested to see the rating that day !! Also teams will be targeting Charles at corners going forward and he doesn't seem tall enough to be a top keeper . His distribution has been iffy the last couple of away games as well which is a worry . [Post edited 2 Nov 15:06]

Impressed with your long memory if you can remember how Joey Barton performed in a game at Burnley!
