Still conceding too many bloody goals 22:12 - Nov 24 with 1669 viewsMyke

Not wishing to take the shine in any way off an excellent win tonight. But when I went to have a look at the table I was surprised to see we had the joint third (with Stoke) most goals conceded on 18. Only Coventry and Wycombe are worse. If we continue that trend we will concede 64 for the season. While that would be our fist sub-70 for a while, it's still pretty damn high. Funny, I had a perception we were doing better than that I suppose with the number of clean sheets we have kept. Trouble is I suppose, we still regularly concede 2's and 3's in a game. I guess a couple of 3-2 wins recently, indicates that we are back scoring goals like last season. But still, with the form of Dieng and the arrival of Dickie, I was hoping we could get the 'goals against' column down a bit more

Dickie is a huge miss. Added him, three clean sheets in the first ten games. Thankfully Warbs seems to suggest in his post match that he's done some light training today.

I agree, but thought Masterson had a good game tonight, he made some key challenges and some great passes out left when coming forward. I don't want to see him go out on loan in January, we need him to step in when needed.

Nobody but nobody should go out on loan with the congested fixture list.

Thought he could’ve done better on the first goal. Seemed to let his man across him. Does need a spell out somewhere to hone his ring craft as it were.

Good news on Dickie as he's clearly been a huge plus for us, but I agree that Masterson was good tonight.

It's a bit of a conundrum all right. Ted and Frankrightguard are both correct. It is difficult to expect Masterson to come in after missing a few games and be straight up to speed (opening 'slice' v Watford) and yet we certainly can't allow our most senior understudy out on loan, with so many games coming thick and fast. It would not surprise me if Warburton made another attempt to buy/loan a CB in January and then let him out

I think that's the stated plan, Myke.

Makes sense.

Good experience for them though last night - to be under the cosh of that kind of direct onslaught and, just about, hang on.

It's not often you see pro footballers doing air shots but that is now two games in a row where an air shot by a defender has led to a goal against. It was just something I noticed.

I didn't have a very good image and thought it was Niko, you could be right.

No matter really, he is still a defender in that moment and any player should obviously be able to avoid a fresh air shot!
