| 20 years ago 08:59 - Dec 14 with 3588 views | Hayesender | This day 20 years ago, we lost 3-0 at Notts County in front of just over 5000 fans. Culkin, Forbes, Palmer, Carlisle, Murphy, Rose, Bircham, Langley, Oli, Angell, Gallen. Subs: Digby, Padula, Daly, Thomson, Furlong. Was there message boards around then? I'd love to see a match thread on this one | |

Lots of feeling that Holloway was on his last legs as this came not long after the Vauxhall Motors debacle then getting battered 4-0 at home by Cardiff (can't remember if that was before or after this game...)

Holloway did well to stop that awful rot, and get us to the playoff final that season, but looking at that team and bench they should have pished that league

I think the 2003-04 squad was much stronger overall. Dennis Oli was always brilliant for me on Championship Manager 03-04 but the real life version up front with Brett Angell was never going to be much of a threat. Culkin wasn't up to much in goal either, as Antti said Chris Day's return was a huge part of the upturn in form.

I will always remember the Chesterfield game because it was played on a Sunday and it was the same day that Space Shuttle Columbia broke up re-entering the Earth's atmosphere. Remember us being glued to the news on the radio all the way up and down again either side of being at the game. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| 20 years ago on 11:30 - Dec 14 with 2862 views | TheChef | Two league wins between October and the end of December. That Tranmere away defeat on 28th December was the nadir of Paul Furlong's QPR career, getting sent off. When he returned from suspension he just went from strength to strength. And from 1st January we basically didn't stop winning. Quite the turn around! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002%E2%80%9303_Queens_Park_Rangers_F.C._season | |

Cook and Gino, absolute transformation.

49 points from 22 games, 15 wins, 4 draws, 3 defeats. Remarkable really!

| 20 years ago on 12:13 - Dec 14 with 2768 views | Lblock | Did Furlong miss a penalty in this game and cup his ears to the away end after missing? I'm sure I was at it. It was a great day out with LadbrokeR's Dad being the star of the show in the pub beforehand with a group of ladies who worked in the knickers factory next door. Stuff of legend | |

Didn’t we play him on the wing though?
| 20 years ago on 12:37 - Dec 14 with 2710 views | daveB | That Notts Country game I was sure they were going to sack Holloway after that, we were awful that day but then went on a mad run not long after that. | | | |
| 20 years ago on 13:02 - Dec 14 with 2655 views | Toast_R | I seem to remember that Stockport game at home being a turning point around Xmas time. Absolute bloody dire game to watch, cold with two teams in terrible form. We got a late penalty and Magic Hat dispatched it for three points. Suddenly a shift in confidence. | | | |

I'm talking about when I saw him play for Everton at Loftus Road. Just dreadful. Billy Whitehurst of Newcastle runs him close though.

Yeah, he was awful. Even Hately was better.
| 20 years ago on 17:38 - Dec 14 with 2465 views | themodfather | as i recall and did not go this one, furlong got stick, abuse and all that , he was sent off too i think? olly defended him but we were poor and the turnaround was a while coming. furs being newly signed, ex chelsea us losing him sent off etc was imo the main cause he soon became a favourite and dare i day club legend. | | | |

Indeed, I was around then too. Some highlights: Invasions of other teams boards. The 'Fulham Boy can't get a seat' thread. The Irritating Brentford fan WUM 'Sweepy Bee' having his identity revealed much to his horror. The same individual having to have QPR shaved into the back of his hair after a team from our board won an arranged football game against people from their site. Bristol City 'POP' threads and their ridiculous promotion calculator. A few of the regular posters moved with Ron and Simon when they started their QPRNet site.
