laganas, the night life capitol of the island is just a mile down from kalamaki, a straight walk along the road/path, or just stay on the beach and walk from there.
if you've got family with young kids, there is plenty to do in kalamaki but much quieter.
plenty of bars and food outlets.
all the young groups head for laganas and can get very boistrous, ok if your a teenager.
you will love the island.....get a day bus/coach tour...plenty of places to book them.

I expect you are there now, lucky you! There are still many parts of it I haven't explored but there are some wonderful places to visit. Siracusa has fabulous architecture and lots of history, as do Taormina and Cefalu. The Aeolian Islands are great too, I have stayed on the main one, Lipari, and visited Vulcano and Panarea. Panarea is car free and stunning. The remains of the amphitheatre at Segesta, in the north west of the island, high on a hill overlooking the coast, are something else. Buona permanenza (enjoy your stay). |  |

I returned from a short break in Crete in the small hours of Sunday morning. We had two glorious days, 2 cloudy but warm days and just 1 wash out.
Really jealous of anyone going to Sicily. We went there last October for my 60th and had a wonderful time. Taormina is a beautiful town and spent my birthday going up Etna. Perfect. I would go back at the drop of a hat. | | | |

On a side note we took my 88 year old mother in law this time, book assistance from the airline in advance, got taken to the front at check in, skipped the queues in security, got taken up to the plane in one of those aircraft vehicles that lifts up to the door. [Post edited 6 Jun 2023 10:49]
