For the current Championship season as of today, QPR have shown a stark contrast in results based on their share of the ball.
The team has effectively become a "counter-attacking specialist," struggling significantly when they are forced to dominate possession.

Most Common Winning Margin: The 15 wins have almost exclusively come with an average possession of 43%.
Our most recent result, a massive 6–1 win over Portsmouth followed this trend perfectly; despite the scoreline, QPR played primarily on the break.
Our Worst Performance was the 1–7 defeat to Coventry City earlier in the season occurred in a match where QPR actually held a higher-than-average percentage of the ball but were caught repeatedly on the counter themselves.

I think it's more a case of:
* 50% plus = higher percentage of pissballing about on the edge of our box pretending that our super secret passing-out-from-the-back routine is effective.
* Under 50% = we took risks by playing positive balls forward and let the oppo play the ersatz Pep ball. |  |

If you let teams like Southampton, Middlesbrough and Ipswich have 60 to 70% possession we get wiped out. If we play teams like us then it is proven we can win with less possession as their finishing is not so good. If you let Boro have 27 shots you are likely to concede a few goals whereas Portsmouth wasted them. |  | | |
