I've long since wondered if anyone checks the content before the send button is hit on the BBC App, but they've had some schoolboy howlers around this WC.
Referring to Modric as, 'Inter's Luka Modric...' when he plays for AC. They did a piece on all the teams, which was quite good, however, whereas you scrolled past a picture of say, Messi for Argentina, Haaland for Norway etc., to get to England, the used Phil Foden! Which was arguably an improvement on using a picture of Bowen instead of Toney when the squad was announced.
Yesterday, a headline read: 'Who will be in the Starting XV?' I don't know Auntie Beeb, maybe Tuch should go with Ford and Mitchell as opposed to Rice and Anderson.
Several more spotted, and all basic stuff which seem to be more prevalent as the days go by. Clearly they still pump out some good stuff, but seem as adept at publishing content that's just poor!
Just a shame that such an institution seems to be getting shoddier by the day.

I find looking at the BBC site the article headlines half the time I’ve got to re-read and re-read again and still haven’t a clue what they are trying to say. Have to click on the actual article just to find out what it is all about. Some of the English and grammatical usage is shoddy beyond belief for such an organisation. |  |

The BBC W/C coverage is awful. They'd have to try hard to make it worse. Best thing about the BBC at the moment is their radio. Really good music and podcasts etc, and their children's TV. Lot's of really good ad free educational show's. |  | | |

It's pretty crap, the alternative Is ITVX which Is also pretty crap but comes with what seems like an endless montage of dreadful adverts.
It's as good as it gets which isn't good at all, all I need now from the beeb whilst watching the football is yet another fcking reminder about Claudia bloody Winkelman's awful Traitors fast looming programme. |  |

Agreed!
I was back in Blighty when the commentators were on strike. So, MOTD just showed the highlights without the inane commentary and no ex-pros bring dull afterwards. The enjoyment factor rose exponentially as a result.
I have to say, the French coverage is better. We seem to go to the stadium 10 minutes before the k.o. A little bit between the two commentators - direct to camera - before anthems, teams and off we go. No long drawn out cliches, Sam Whatshisface/Lee Dixon, a scowling Shearer and, most importantly...no soppy bolix Micah 'laugh loudly at my own pooh' Richards!! [Post edited 24 Jun 11:16]

I just watch the match - can't be doing with the pre/half time/post match punditry inanities.

I thought their coverage has been pretty good. I know it’s the equivalent of liking Coldplay and we’re all supposed to hate the BBC but actually I really enjoyed the discussion between Ellen White, Micah Richards and Thomas Frank and I think Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan are both excellent anchors.
I usually like Gary Neville and Roy Keane but I think they’ve been coasting in this World Cup and coming up with a lot of cliches rather than detailed analysis or surprising insights.
I don’t mean to be a contrarian but I just find myself thinking differently to the bubble (conventional wisdom) or at least only half agreeing. It’s really not deliberate. |  | | |

It’s suffering massive cutbacks and it’s all getting spread a bit too thin .
Personally I think it’s great value and that despite parts of it being a bit rubbish .

Well it's not surprising given all the channels available these days - and the BBC are really showing their desperation during this World Cup with constant reminders about having your TV licence.

I don't have an issue with commentators, I don't usually pay too much attention to them, whatever channel I'm watching.
With the BBC coverage, I'm not been feeling the pundits or hosts. Hard to explain, but the vibe just doesn't feel right. I think ITV give more of a feeling that there's an event taking place, just feels more like an occasion compared to what the BBC are offering.

I think Keane is just a caricature these days. In terms of substance he just plays the Father Christmas role these days. As you say, there's rarely any technical analysis.
I'm intrigued by Rooney. I actually like him and I think many of his points are valid but it fascinates me how he never looks or sounds 100% sure of himself. It makes me want to sit down next to him and put my arm round him and say 'Wayne, you are doing well my son, keep going' [Post edited 24 Jun 16:30]
