I’m 66 years old. I’ve been going to the r’s for 60 years.
I am sick and tired of watching managers of the only 2 teams I care about (r’s and England) making non decisions. I lose count of the amount of games at the Bush where every bleeding one of us see we need to make multiple changes, even when we are winning, get legs on , shake things up. Yet time and time again, no changes till far too late , 80 odd minutes. How F’ing difficult can it be ffs?! Tell the players before the game, “I will make changes, no reflection on those I bring off, put up with it’’. Last season Stephan no different to the ones before him. I hope and pray he changes this year so you don’t have to scream for changes.
And England tonight. Yelling at the telly on 60, get some bloody legs on, so obvious and he didn’t do it. We could all see it. Legs, get legs on ffs!! Ollie Watkins, Rashford, anyone who is fresh ffs. Utterly devastated |  | | |  |

I don’t blame the players I blame the manager with the lack of subs and then the subs he made. It’s so annoying because I think he’d been pretty much spot on in previous matches but last night he got it horribly wrong. And that’s not just with the benefit of hindsight because we were screaming at the TV too that we were sitting back way too much.
The one thing you want to do against an ageing team is to stretch them, particularly as we have pace across the squad and an overall younger squad. But we did the opposite by allowing them to play to their absolute strength which was Messi’s pinpoint accuracy with crosses into the box and the movement of their attacking players in the penalty area. And allowing the player to have a free shot for the second goal is just unforgivable.

Was watching in Thailand at stupid o’clock on iPlayer stream occasionally dropping. As soon as we score its backs to the walls
Last of the game I saw was the Dan Burn sub then there was a power outage lost the stream and beeb got back on in injury time when as I expected we were 2-1 down
Am I bothered yes am I surprised no, at least I won’t have to go through another 90 minutes of watching a stuttering England performance.
For me Football is only QPR and this season hoping Elvesburg win the Bundesliga-fat chance
I enjoy watching football highlights across many leagues however 90 minutes is reserved for my beloved QPR

Getting over the line is the biggest mental challenge in sport. Unfortunately apart from one day in 1966, English male footballers have consistently failed at that.
Of course last night if the manager had kept a back four (regardless of the subs) we might just have managed it.
Whether we would actually go on to win the final is another kettle of fish though. |  |

This time it was because its been sixty years and the way, similar to 66, where we have found just enough in the matches so far, and with a 1-0 lead I thought we would again.
In the quarter final in 1970, we were the reigning World Champions, probably had an even better team than 66, and 2-0 up against West Germany. When the opposition pulled one back we subbed Bobby Charlton with Colin Bell with 20 minutes left. We then changed Martin Peters for the more defensive Norman Hunter and almost immediately conceded again. The Germans scored with a backwards looping header over the smaller keeper Bonetti in our goal, due to Banks illness, to win 3-2 in extra time. [Post edited 16 Jul 14:01]

Yes, I was thinking similar thoughts. I did wonder at his defensive subs in the Mexico match but it worked very well then, so I was hoping it would again.
Wayne Rooney, who has gone up dramatically in my estimation, as a pundit, during this tournament, hit the nail on the head; those tactics may work against ordinary or good sides but they won't work against the very best. Once momentum shifts it is extremely difficult to move it back especially against a team as fired up as Argentina.
Nevertheless, we don't need to change manager. He was doing well before yesterday, he will hopefully learn the lesson and let's see how he does in the next Euros. | | | |

What I couldn't understand was how, in his post match interview, he said he changed it because Argentina were getting crosses into our box and balls up between our centre backs.
Absolute nonsense. We were matching them with our 4-4-2 after we scored, even if one or two players like James and Rice did look particularly tired.
Should have stayed 4-4-2.
My recurring nightmare now is that we are going to see similar scenarios at LR if we happen to go up against one of the big teams after three quarters of the match.
