Five or six players pulled out of the England squads because they didnt want to play thus risking injuries for their club sides games. So the rotating wasnt in his hands.

Shows the relevance of this weird Nations League competition.

Tuchel has publicly slated players such as Cole Palmer, who has played all Chelsea's league game minutes so far, but made hinself unavailable for the national side. This three week break just a few games into the season is nuts. Totally wrong in my eyes. And the fact its there, has meant in the championship, all teams played five games in a fourteen day period, which is mad. Creating injury risks all round.

I am watching the England games but i cant say the results or the performances mean anything to me or most others. Seriously hope none of our players pick up injuries, such as Burrell. Am expecting it tbf and would be maddening, if so.

Its all a bit of a pointless sideshow.....

Television money and money for the totally upstanding football federations.

We’ve not won a trophy since 1966, yet quite a few fans seem not bothered about this competition. Look at the Spanish, they just won World Cup, they don’t seem to be taking it lightly. And neither should we. Play your best side. And if players “withdraw” late with a track record of doing so, they shouldn’t be selected for the next squad.

Best to treat international qualifiers like pre season friendlies or first round league cup matches, just completely ignore them unless you really have nothing else to do.

If the year ends in an odd number, 47 competitive games is more than enough to enjoy yourself.
If it ends in an even number, enjoy a cheaper than usual holiday last two weeks of June, nothing to see there and take in the last two weeks of the relevant international competition, that’s all you ever need to watch.

Only caution is the holiday discount is not so prevalent these days as more and more realise the futility of group games.

The Nations League qualifying provides a much more competitive challenge than the Euros or the World Cup.

I do also think this four matches in less than two weeks, which forced us to play five in fifteen days is utter madness.

Point I was making too FB.

This practice has seeped into Rugby Union and Cricket also, with so many more international games.

In cricket some players play internationally all year round and are never available for nearly all of their county sides competitions.

Rugby Union, we have the southern hemisphere championship, the autumn internationals and the six nations, so again many top players are regularly unavailable for their actual club games also.

And games in both are also shoehorned closer together also.

Money talks...Senses are ignored.

I find the English attitude to this tournament mad. If we finish top 2 you go into a quarter which will likely mirror the next Euros, a real chance to play some proper games against proper teams. The likes of Spain, Portugal and France take it a lot more seriously than we seem to

Well you'd like to think finishing in the top two isn't beyond us...

Are we now obliged to play Croatia in every qualifying group?? Bizarre.
