It was Wallace!! We changed to man marking as an approach and Wallace was marking the bloke at that corner and subsequent. Wallace was a fault. It was his man. It wasn't zonal.

yep, Wallace's man, but as i said on the main thread, Kakay also culpable - he's there specifically to stop the near post inswinger, and he allowed Akpom to dart ahead of him. He knew it, Dickie behind him knew it. Had he attacked the ball, Akpom wouldn't have got there. But that can happen. Actually second half we defended their frees and corners fairly well.

I thought so too. Not perfectly, and you always felt we might drop another clanger back there, but overall – goal aside – they did manage hold things together. Particularly in the last fifteen minutes or so when Boro were mounting a bit of pressure. When this back four get used to each other a bit more – after all only Barbet was a regular last season – we might be able to relax a little. [Post edited 26 Sep 2020 18:37]

This. Wallace didn't track his man, he was not even close. And Kakay did not move forward to attack the cross. This two mistakes at the same time cost us the goal. Also, Kakay got caught out a few times on the far post cross, with Brett almost getting a goal in behind him and this happened twice. However, apart from that, the defence looked solid. But I suspect that Borough and Florist are some of the worst teams in the Champ so, we shall need to up our game a lot. Cameron is never in the game and gets bypassed easily, Ball should replace him. Thomas was better than LTC so, good start along with Dieng by Warbs there. Chair we could see in the first half had more direct through balls. Amos played really well and was everywhere and made timely tackles and nine short passes. Better performance than Coventry but if you don't keep the concentration up you will get punished.

Funny you should say that, I think Forest and Boro, will both finish above Coventry, who are the only team to completely outplay us (2nd half) so far. I really believe we are quite a decent team (couple of obvious additions needed up front and LB) but we need to be bang at it for 90 minutes or will get punished. In none of the three games (or the LC game) have we been bang at it for the whole game

7 teams have conceded as many or more than us, only two have scored more - but that doesn't really fit the narrative does it - sorry!
| First Corner on 17:30 - Sep 27 with 859 views | dodge_stoke_r | We have conceded 7. 4 of which have come from crosses into the box both from dead balls and open play. 5 if you count Plymouths 2nd which came from not dealing with a cross from the right, hat bounced off our crossbar. So i think its fair to say that our inability to : A) stop crosses. B) defend them when they come in. Will cost us dearly, if not rectified as it cost us last year Some off our defending of these situations has been abysmal. | | | |
