Luckily there are plenty of other places that do, so you can use those.

I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago about a possible civil war in America, after it was deleted Clive privately messaged me explaining why, after reading what he said I will respect the fact that it’s his board and will restrain from posting anything inflammatory. Trust me it causes Clive a lot of balls ache.

I agree, but I'd like this board to exclude all politics, so to be consistent threads like "oh Jeremy Corbyn" should also go. Otherwise there are bound to be concerns about inconsistency or bias.

Got to admit, I've (pretty much) banned myself from all political threads on here and ignored a lot of posters who are more politically minded.
There is SO MUCH sh!t going on right now. It'd be nice if this place could be a haven from that.

Bare bones.

I'm definitely not a NorthernR fanboy. But it's his site and, and he has every right to inconsistency or bias, without any concern. You want that go to the BBC. With respect; ridiculous comment.

Yeah I basically don't bother with them now. Think I established pretty much no one agreed with me so it always just ended in some cyclical nowhere argument. Much better value to be had in music and beer threads

I'm not far off agreeing with you, and for the most part we do now just delete the politics threads because...

- they've all been done to death on here, nobody is going to change their views, we all know who's on what side, we don't need ten pages of left v right on whatever the issue of the day is every week.
- More than anything else they turn nasty, aggressive, bring out the worst in people, require heavy, constant moderation which after 16 years I'm just not prepared to do any more.
- It's a football message board at the end of the day. I don't enforce that strictly, but when it's becoming a bulletin board for Momentum, EDL, Brexit Party etc... that's not a board I want to post on, run or be responsible for. Loads of other places people can do that.
- They put people off posting. Been told that multiple times by multiple people "love the site but don't get involved on the board because of the politics". It puts me off posting and it's my site.

But if we take the Trump one, for instance, I'm not sure it's realistic to not have a thread about the presidential election in presidential election week and the discussion on there is pretty civil and interesting at the moment so it would be a shame to bin it, and almost certainly replaced immediately by another one.

Now you could say the same about Nice, of course, apart from the "civil and interesting" bit, but that thread, as all threads on that topic do, quickly fills up with posters you rarely see, posters who never comment on the football stuff, enjoying the opportunity for a "oh look the fcking muzzies are at it again" pile on. Nice, barely veiled, woe is me, "there is a solution but oh, tee hee, I'm not allowed to say it" posts with eight upvotes. I don't want that on here. I don't want to provide a platform for that. If you don't like it, there are plenty of other places that will host that, go use those.

Basically the politics threads are deleted. And the Corbyn one probably will be too. But I try to allow some common sense and leeway.

The workload isn't the problem, and I hate over moderated message boards (ironic, given we're talking about a thread deletion). The Hull FC one I used to use seems to have more moderators than posters.

The issue is I don't want to run a website that provides a platform for threads like that.

It's my opinion having done this for a long time and spoken to a great many people about it that the vast, vast majority don't want to use a website that provides a platform for threads like that either. Even if that wasn't the case I would rather have an empty message board with nobody on it than a busy one with that content on it.

Sharpy, you've done my head in now!

For the life of me I'm trying to remember the name of one of the Mods back then who I met away at WBA, he used to work for one of the American airlines and was organizing me dirt cheap tickets to Chicago at the time poor Ray Jones got killed.
He was a smashing bloke (about 6' 8" tall).
Think he jacked it all in and moved to Cornwall.

Just cant remember the blokes name

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.
