Strong side, still no Willock, Roberts or Amos but hopefully soon. Looking forward to seeing if Shodipo can keep up his good pre-season, hope for a strong performance from Dykes and hopefully we get a glimpse of Sinclair Armstrong off the bench.

I'd worry for Dunne.

He's a better defender than Dickie, and maybe better than JCS.
He's also a better leader and organiser than Dickie, and maybe better than JCS.
So, he must be out because of his passing skills?

That's fine, but he may as well be sold if that's the case and replaced with a ball-playing centre-back, because we're clearly going with four at the back and his passing skills won't improve on the bench.

Would rather play with a back 3 and wingbacks then leave Dunne on the bench.

Without a new right back and the inclusion of Willock and Roberts, this looks like the likely line up for Blackburn. Not great.

Not sure I agree with London and Sints that JoJo is an anchor man, particularly if we only play with one.

I think the anchor man needs to be similar to a defender in that he's checking behind him constantly to make sure we're set defensively. I think JoJo tends to look at the ball or forward, and rarely behind, which leaves a danger that we can leak runners and get overloaded without him realising it.

Not sure he's defensively minded.
The problem is that the only alternative we have who is defensively minded is Field. It's the reason he intercepts so often. But his weakness at the moment is he loses the ball too often once he's won it.

You'd have to say with Willock, Amos, Roberts, Dunne, Albert and "a new right back" not on the pitch (who you'd all expect to play a big part this season) it's a good first XI.

Agree that we might need another forward though (he says as Dykes nods in a second)
