Time wasting by goalies 13:05 - Jan 18 with 1507 viewsThird_Division_South

Yesterday it was our turn to use the fake GK injury to allow the coaching staff to pass on messages to the team. I have heard it proposed that as the GK cannot come off after treatment his team should lose another player for the 30 seconds, maybe the captain. Thoughts?

Just have a timekeeper and stop the clock when the ball isn't in play.

I don't like it when other teams do it and no, I don't like it when we succumb and use the same tactics. It's a blight on the game.

With respect, stopping the clock isn't the answer. 'sh1tbousery' isn't just about running the clock down.

It's about breaking up the rhythm of the game to annoy and frustrate your opponent and their fans. It's about taking a breather when you need one. It's about pausing for instructions.

I remember when coaching from the sidelines wasn't allowed. Maybe we should go back to that. It would be hard to enforce but would prevent players all going to the bench for a consultation. Taking an outfield player off for a longer period might help reduce the goalkeeper incidents. All other treatment should be off the pitch, unless its due to a foul.

Undoubtedly fella, undoubtedly.

However, the ancillary benefit of cheating the clock is removed from the equation.

In relation to attempted subjugation of the oppo's momentum, I think, but don’t know, such things run the risk of heightening the oppo's determination to resume hostilities, while potentially breaking your concentration.

This feigning injury thing is pathetic and I refer to comments I made on a previous thread, why these ex-pro co-comms aren't calling it out is also pathetic.

For some people, when it's us, apparently the response is 'bring it on'! if it takes us a point clearer of 16th, it's to be applauded, apparently.

They might call themselves QPR fans, but they're not football fans.

For too long it was done to us and we were soft and easy. I can remember a referee being quoted, on here a few years back that we were easy as we didn't question things, were generally accepting of things and well behaved.

Stepping outside of Alice in Wonderland for just a minute, until it's eradicated from the game, if others are doing it, we mustn't be taken advantage of. Yes it's annoying and cheating but I'm glad we have woken up from our slumber and joined the erm 'party'. The days of us rolling over are, hopefully, behind us.

Good luck with your cynicism, but yesterday's 'performance' - for a club like ours that's been graced by the likes of Bowles and Francis, Currie and Stainrod, Allen and Goddard, and Buzsaky, Taraabt, and Eze, and managed by the likes of Sexton, Docherty, and, I don't know Luigi de f*cking Canio - was shaming, unwatchable, heart-strangling stuff. The fans who are applauding it are unfathomable.

There is a 4th official and an assistant referee next to the technical areas,so just stop the teams going over there and talking to the manager/coach.
If they need a drink then let the drinks be brought to them in the centre circle.

Don't you think that Stan, Gerry, Dave Clement, Ian Gillard, Frank McClintock and Webby, Ray Wilkins were prepared to do what was necessary in their day. Tommy Doherty certainly wasn't a saint. and neither was El Tel. The football was more entertaining as they were more talented than our current players but they could grind out results with offside traps and back passes, when they needed to.

I've been watching QPR/football for 50 years - and if you don't think what we're seeing now is being aggressively and cynically downwardly managed, I'll leave you to it. My eyes don't lie to me, and I'm not stupid.

I've went to my first game in 1970, so similar number of years. I think we are going with the current 'flow' or trend. I think it's something all successful teams have done over that period and probably before.
Don Revie's Leeds, England World Cup and Man U European cup with Nobby, Shankley's Liverpool with Tommy Smith. Fouling, offside traps, back passes

You're basically a parody of yourself these days.

You are the biggest time waster here, never mind our goalkeeper.

Between us beating Leicester 4-1 at home and the end of the weekend; you submitted 3 posts.

Between us nicking a dour 0-0 point at Stoke and the end of the weekend; you submitted 63 posts.

After any 'bad' result this forum is clogged up with your desperate attempts to besmirch players, managers, accents, tactics, team selections - basically anything you can get your teeth into. It makes skimming through the forum like walking through molasses. It makes you look like you're sat there every weekend like a glutinous medieval king at a banquet every time we don't rip through our opponents. "Off with his tete" or some sh!t. Maybe it's just your way of dealing with bad results / performances but it's beyond tedious for the rest of us.

If you have to hold QPR managers in such contempt every time they spoil your weekend with a 0-0 draw I guess that's your prerogative. But do you really have to make the rest of us suffer too?
