Next season's fitness approach 15:56 - Jun 4 with 1930 viewsJevlar

As the club have at least admitted to there being some issues with our injury record last year and with Ben Williams very likely to still be situ, I'm intrigued to see what the club's approach will be next season regarding the squad's fitness.

I doubt we'll be told much, which I get, but surely we can't be going into a 3rd season of starting a little under-cooked with the aim of being fitter than everyone come March, as this approach has, to put it mildly, not been a success .

I think another poster said it first. But I fully expect someone else in the performance team to be nominated as "head of injury prevention" or some other nonsense, so that Ben Williams is out of direct fire for this one, giving Nourry the chance to not have to get rid of his personal recommendation and lose face.

With BW having such a huge remit now it would be easy to do and spin as helping him focus on other things like the grass and players welfare in the canteen

I'm pretty sure I'm correct in saying that at least 50% of our recruits over past 2 to 3 years had known injury issues or had recently experienced a significant injury absence in the season prior to joining us.
Morrison, Poku and Dembeke definitely did and we actually signed Vale whilst he was crocked.
Surely, this is something we need to carefully consider going forwards?

It will be interesting to see when the next fans' forum is announced. Last year it was held on 29th July.

It will also be interesting to see if questions will again only be taken in advance. I'd expect players' fitness would be an issue asked about more than most others.

I mean, we are shopping in the middle aisle aren't we?
So, if they are coming to QPR there is usually a "thing"

Player A:
Young, promising, could play at a higher level, gets injured a lot (cheap)

Player B:
Old, no room to develop anymore, high wage demands, maybe can't play three games in a week (expensive)

I think we are aiming for the A's on purpose.

Of course there is also a C: where the player needs to step up a level and is unproven at Championship level.
This might be M'Bengue, Kone or Burrell who were all decent last year, but those C's aren't always a success, don't forget Mac Bonne and Connor Washington or even Lyndon Dykes...

That's a wonderful understatement “ some issues” with players' fitness.

Hi nick think I was the first to come up with the William’s side step movement to allow some other poor sap to take the blame for the impact injuries we seems to suffer .

Poll: which is your favouite foot
