Witty/Humorous Player nicknames 22:05 - Dec 7 with 7311 viewspafcprogs

Hi

Argyle fan here on a mission to hunt out witty/humourous player nicknames from the past and present from each club.

I am also interested in finding out who your Psycho, Trigger, Beast, Animal Tank and other similar common or garden nicknames are...

If you have any good candidates then the nickname player and any back story would be great...not necessarily just Rangers but obviously thats the main reason for coming on the board.

We probably have enough for Holloway though :)

Best

Peter

David seaman was known as Spunky.

He was actually known as Harry... for the same reasons :-)

Simon Barker was known as either Mavis (Coronation Street) or Wilmott-Brown (Eastenders) by the fans. David Bardsley was known as Cucumber and even had it as a chant for him after one of his typical, cool as a cucumber, back headers to the keeper whilst under pressure. Andy Impey was known as Chalky whilst at Yeading but it never really caught on at QPR and Lee Charles was known as Chippy. Steve Slade AKA Bambi On Ice. Neil Razor Ruddock. Heidar "Iceman" Helgusson.

The grass is always greener.

Marcus Bignot "Biggie"

Although considering his height, I always thought Marcus Bignot was a good nickname.

Edit...hang on, I think it was Oldham?

One Size was known as that before he became a professional.

I think it was while he was at Cambridge City that I first heard it, but it probably goes back to his schooldays.

Crouchy became known as the Freak after he broke into the Englnd squad.

Joey cnting Barton.

And Joe Jordan, with us under Rednapp, wasn't he known as the Animal at Man U? Saw him play us at LR back in the day with his teeth out, literally, no front teeth. They used to say he was transported in a lion cage, fed raw meat then released onto the pitch haha.

Joe Jordan and his (lack of...) teeth were featured in the Heineken advertising campaign back in the day...

Neil "Razor" Ruddock.

Don't know why though, most pictures of him he seems to be unshaven.

Later to become Neil "Pieman" Ruddock.

Couldn't afford razors? Maybe we should call him Razors. It's never too late for a nickname...

One for the erm 'older ones' but I'm bloody sure Rodney Marsh got lumbered with the nickname "Harmony hair spray" after the advert "Is she, isn't she wearing Harmony hair spray"?
Probably after he moved to Man City.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Talking of his schooldays, I believe he went to school with 'Dave' in Walthamstow.
