Bloke with tat's and a Rolex?

or is it just the new shirts?

I wouldn't like to tell this guy he's a BFG. Hopefully he has a bit of pace but looks like he has that Chief type presence, which I base on nothing apart from the fact that he is big and scary.

Never knowingly right.

Looks like he'd tackle a life size concrete effigy of King Kong if it looked onside in the box.

But does he look great in pink? That's the big question.

Very pleased with this although I can’t say I know much about him.
Lived in Berlin for 4 years and manage to catch a couple of Union games a year still, he’s always looked solid although I’m mainly focusing on beer and polti.
Better than the likes of Alex Pearce and others floated. Seems they really were just tabloid stories based on the fact mclaren was at derby! Hopefully this means hughill over chris Martin too!

Thanks nottony, 'solid' sounds encouraging. Do you remember anything else about him?

Nice surprise to wake up to in the states. Seems to be highly rated by some 2. Bungesliga guys on Twitter. Glad we’re targeting quality defenders.

Looks encouraging. Sounds like this might be a bit of a coup.

The fact I've never heard if him and this hadn't been rumoured anywhere is pleasing

Lovely tweet that from Polter and nice to know he thinks well of us, personally I thought he was a tad hard done by.

I know b*gger all about him but sounds just what we were hoping for (and defo the price we wanted). A welcome bit of good news in the transfer market.

Good in the air and likes a tackle. Can’t say I looked out for him specifically so perhaps that’s a good thing he didn’t come on my radar too often.

A tad hard done by ?? The story was his wife was homesick. Can't see how that's QPRs fault.

One of the best defenders in Bundesliga 2 and of the 'old school' variety.
Well thought of at Union and in his mid / late 20's - so as a centre half should be at his peak.
Good luck and welcome on board.

It's more that he didn't seem to get a run as first choice CF even though he always seemed (to me anyway) to upset defences.

Might be an unfair view by me, we went straight out and bought Matt Smith as a replacement so I suppose we always wanted someone like that.

Anyway, he must like us as otherwise his mate wouldn't have signed; it's a good thing, suggests we are doing OK at togetherness, morale and stuff.

Yeah IIRC Ollie and Birch didn't really fancy him from the off (also seemed to have attitude/communication issues with the foreign players generally). The homesickness came out of the blue soon enough. But who knows.

On the surface, he seems exactly the sort of player we should be signing. No fee, right age, plenty of experience.

We may be getting Hugill on loan, from West Ham, but wages might be a problem.

Very difficult to imagine a deal for Hugill coming off (but then it's also fairly surprising to me that we're even trying in the first place).

Dunno what sort of contract West Ham in their stupidity might have handed him but it's not inconceivable that our wage ceiling might only reach a quarter of it... there'll surely be all sorts of clubs interested that can afford a bigger portion than we can. Never mind any loan fee etc, which is usually sizeable even for youth players and old lags these days never mind recent £8m signings.

Maybe he'll have become a die hard Londoner in the last six months...

Seems a long shot to me too, but it's a much more encouraging line of enquiry than the Martin story. (Cue conspiracy theory: Chris Martin approach goes down like a cup of sick, so put in an enquiry for a much better player, knowing full well we'll be outbid but it'll play well.)*

Suggests to me that we want a big target man as part of our plan and perhaps aren't 100% sure Big Posh Matt is it. Also possible move on for Sylla if Hugill/A N Other is first choice and BPM is reserve?

Also, that at least one Target Man in the squad is part of our plan and has been since Les became DoF and therefore that the DoF approach is still live and kicking

* I don't believe a word of this.

From Clive's article:

“Toni Leistner...He’s strong and his physicality is extremely impressive — there’s rarely a duel that Leistner loses and he’s a man mountain in the air. Leistner is strong on the ground and in the tackle too."

Reading this bit, has left me in a state that I am sure some were rendered upon reading 50SoG! And with reference to Toni's 'strong tackle', it could easily have been lifted from said book.

Yeah, yeah, I know there's reference to being able to play a bit; but being able to scare the bejaysus out of the oppo is just a wonderful trait in my CB. Any chance of another to play alongside him Schteeeve?

You know I just assumed "SoG" meant "Spirit of Gregory" and genuinely spent 5 minutes trying to work out why anyone would read him/her 50 times and exactly how that would make them feel.

A lesson to me to get out less often and spend more time reading kinky soft porn.

Looks a good signing to me with reports saying he was one of the top defenders in the league, fingers crossed it works out. Time will tell
