"Unless of course the deals made by the EU were only for the 435m and we got no benefit from them."

What on earth are you on about? It's not about who gets what benefit, it's about getting the best deal by collective bargaining. If you go in solo you won't get the same kind of deal. '

If a deal was made with country X with us via the EU then that country must have been happy to deal with us. As such why would they not continue that deal after we left the EU, the deal exists it will not be a new deal. No nnegotiations needed as its all been done.

The EU is going to tell the rest of the World not to deal with us innit.

"If a deal was made with country X with us via the EU"

Trade deals are made with the EU not with the UK via the EU, so any existing deal with "country X" will be for access to the whole EU market which is more attractive than just a UK market.

Of course that presupposes that country X's exports are evenly spread across all members of the EU. What if the deal is attractive for country X because of access to the UK then why not resurrect the deal when we leave. Maybe country X produces three pin plugs.

Alastair Campbell has just announced that, despite his expulsion, if you add up all the years he's been in the Labour Party, he is still technically in the Labour Party.

In that hypothetical best case scenario why would country X not try to get a better deal for itself? Even if it was happy to keep the existing deal it obtained with the EU, why would it not try for better?

‘I'm sad that so many chose to vote for a man I have no doubt is at heart a Neo-fascist.’

Farage isn’t a fascist. The Brexit Party aren’t fascists. And most people who voted for them aren’t fascists.

The main stream media and the likes of Momentum have peddled this rubbish.

Exactly whatever the reasons the country leaving the EU would easily get a deal with country X

I'd like to see the methodology behind that, because that's not what would happen at all - as at a constituency level brexit and tories would potentially cannibalise each other (before we get into extrapolating an election with less than 40% turn out to a GE)

LOL it's all turned out c**t again.

Fk it. Past caring now I think.

The country, as a whole, seems fked but life carries on. We'll be back to arguing about whether or not male athletes can be women and whether or not toilets are racist or something later.

In the meantime I'm moving to a quiet village and keeping my head down until *checks watch* I die of old fking age.

I'll use the old cliche. Assume makes an ass of you and me.

Why will it be difficult to resurrect deals? It depends. 1. The UK has very few trade negotiators and priority will be to ensure the 45% ic trade we do with EU doesn't collapse. 2. Some small scale deals may be easily reproducible but where we do less than 1% of our trade. 3. The details will have changed. We will be a market of 65m, instead of 500m.

4. The resurrection of a deal is nigh on impossible. Leave with no deal and all deals cease and are ended. Each deal has to be re-written and re-negotiated from scratch. There may be commonality but to believe the deals can be re-started immediately is, at best, optimistic and at worse irresponsible.

I didn't think that it would be such a big issue as any leave supporter can argue that they don't like aspects of the EU and that the trade deals don't make up for that or any other arguement. But if he can't concede that the EU, if nothing else, is effective as a trade bloc in getting better trade deals by unifying 28 countries then there's no point discussing it any further as far as I can see.

Can't wait until he tells all the other trade blocs around the world that they've been wasting their time.

Given that there were virtually no manifestoes, no proper debates and nobody knew what they were voting for other than Brexit, when are we going to have a second European election?

I live in an east London socialist republic though in my borough the Brexit party got around 11000 votes less than Labour. Is a crazy political climate. I am left wing but still trying to work out who would be the best Tory leader.
I would support Gove if he promised to be a true QPR fan and tax Chelsea fans at an 80 per cent income tax rate.
