Wegerle v Sinclair v Ainsworth 07:41 - May 7 with 2553 viewsHastings_Hoops

Just because I haven’t posted for a while. Which of the above ‘qpr goals of the season’ wins it for you?

1) Wegerle at Leeds (top flight opposition, but regardless of Wegerle’s brilliance - it was terrible defending!)?

2) Sinclair v Barnsley (unstoppable but lower quality opposition than Wegerle’s goal)

3) Ainsworth v Rushden & Diamonds (much poorer opposition, but he did it twice and there would have been little that Real Madrid could have done to stop them).

Wegerle's.

It's purely a personal preference but I think that an individual goal like that takes many different and distinct skills, which makes it even harder and rarer than a great strike.

Sinclair's second - there's a video of the best overheads ever scored and Sinclair's tops the lot.

Ainsworth's first - still an incredible strike, though.

Wegerles is the most skilful. Terrible defending but decent players. Dribblers Union here as well. It’s a lost bloody art and we don’t see it enough now.

Sinclair's next because that was so agile and great timing.

Gaz was a thump, great goal but most can whack a ball. That was also terrible defending because Rushden & Diamonds had been sucked across to one side and Ainsworth was in far too much space for being fairly central 35 yards out from goal. Once he hit it, no keeper was stopping it.

At least you're real! I'm just a figmant!

The three goals mentioned here are in the unreal cateogry. I wonder if we will talk about any of Eze's goals in the same breath? Stoke was pretty special jist for the glide move and slide rule finish! Pure poerty. With apologies to Blake, William not Noel,,,

I feel it is also important not to forget Scowen's goal of the season just before he left. He was disliked by a lot of the fans by the end and was viciously attacked on social media so it will have been forgotten by most by now, unforgiveably IMO.

The grass is always greener.

Sinclairs goal tops it for me, they were all great but the fella in the white coat stood behind the goal blaming the goalkeeper makes it even more special for me

Wegerle for me.
The opposition is irrelevant for Sinclairs.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Sinclair for me
As Stanisgod said the defence was irrelevant so it wouldnt have mattered if it was Barnsley or Barcelona the outcome would have been the same

I've spent the last decade declaring Trev's goal the greatest ever scored in football. Never seen another like it in the game.

So with respect to Royston, Sinclair all day long.

Sinclair for me as well.

All special goals though.

Tricky Trev for me.

But Wayne Routledge's my favourite of all.

Got to be Sinclair's goal for me.
It is simply the best of its kind.
Nobody has ever scored a better overhead kick than that!

Wegerle's goal is great but other players have scored better "one player dribbles past everybody" goals than that.

Not sure anyone's ever scored 2 such great goals in one match as Ainsworth's 2 at Rushden but neither of them compare to Trev's goal.

Wasn't at Leeds for the Wegerle goal but saw the others live.

I'd go Sinclair. I'm too young to have seen Wegerle play, seen though goal though but in my book I'd go Sinclair for technique.

On Gaz I thought his goal was top class, first one perhaps you think he's caught them off guard, second tie is inexcusable for R&D though. My favorite Gaz goal however was a header from outside the box in front of the loft end, all of those goal sum him up perfectly as a player in my opinion, all unexpected and brilliant.

pretty much concur with this but probably tie them in joint first; was there for the first 2 and both were moments of beauty and genius combined....

i also managed to get out of Leeds with all of my features intact; which was touch and go for a minute or 2!

3 absolute pelters that would grace any 'best goal' compilation.

Trev's without a doubt.

If he had connected from a punt up field, that would have been good. But to connect
from a cross? Unreal. Unbelievably good.

As a QPR fan, I might be a tad biased but I genuinely think it's the best goal I've ever seen, live or on TV.

And to think pundits w*nk themselves silly over Rooney's effort -not in the same class.

I was lucky enough to have been at the matches for the Sinclair & Gaza goals.

Positioned in the West Paddock almost in line with Trev's overhead, it's definitely the best goal I have ever seen live and certainly beats Roy and Gaza's efforts in this poll.

For me it's the degree of difficulty that marks it out as the best. I can think of many world class player's who have scored or often failed with outrageous overhead shots, but I've never seen one to match Tricky Trev's.

Both Gaza and Roy's efforts were great goals but I've seen better versions of both e.g Maradona against England was a better goal resulting from an amazing dribble.

I declare Sinclair the winner based on the above.

...no new entries allowed!!! Especially not Gerry Francis against Liverpool.
