| 180 + minutes on 16:27 - Jun 27 by paulparker | I’m going to get some stick but sod it We as a club have a losers mentality, mediocrity is the standard that is accepted at HQ For the last few seasons we have got to around 45/50 points and given up , I mean have we really progressed in the last 5 years ? Yeah the football this year has been good at times but how many goals, points and defensive blunders have we made, to many I like Les but we haven’t sold anyone for huge money, we have wasted money on players like, Bidwell, konchesky , Leinster, Yenni , cherry, Washington, el katouri, and countless others for no return , every year we go through a process of changing the team, come to QPR do a bit then give up , that seems to be the order of the day, BOS & Manning seems to have given up We bitched and moaned about the season starting again , we look Like a Sunday pub team we are not even fit Yet again we are sleep walking into a relegation scrap |
I don't agree with all of that, PP, but I do agree with your central point wholeheartedly - that we have a loser's mentality. And that comes from the fans. I am so tired, so utterly sick and tired of people saying "typical QPR". As if we're cursed, as if it's written in stone, as if we're the only team that loses games it should win, that wins games it should lose, as if we have less luck than others...it's self-pitying it's self-fulfilling and it's really incredibly damaging. It's time we stopped talking about luck, and started calling acceptable acceptable and unacceptable unacceptable.

I agree with a lot of what you say but had to look at the league table when you mentioned ‘sleepwalking into a relegation scrap’. We’re 8pts clear of the drop zone with 9 teams between us in 13th and Huddersfield in 22nd with 7 games left. I know we’re streaky and don’t want to tempt fate but we could probably not win another game this season and still stay up.

Your right Another thing is is where is the spine of the team ? our goal keepers are average, our defence is poor , The midfield blows hot & cold , ok Eze is the man , but I dont see a lot else about us We are to nice and easy for crap teams to play against Warnock after a week’s training has got Boro at it , we need to sign some real nasty so and so’s this summer, apart from Ball who else puts a foot in, kicks people, moans at the ref ?
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

I think we've done really, really well to stay competitive while being forced to reduce our wage bill and to sell players. I couldn't be happier about that. But I think you're right that a decent next step would be to add steel and cuteness.

I would Brian based on the last two showings. I think Manning has not done too much wrong for people to start dropping them for their next team selection, especially today. He might not be the world's best fullback but I think if we sped the play up and used him more on the overlap he can be dangerous either with his left foot pinging one low and hard in to the box or driving in himself. It seems Wallace did not even make the bench today. We did improve today but still despite the tippy tappy passing around the Charlton box, no end product again

Wallace was injured. Kebano sent off (two yellows) for Fulham so he should also be missing our game. [Post edited 27 Jun 2020 16:54]

I thought Chair was our best player today - off and on the ball. He was the only player who showed invention and changed angles of attack, and he worked damn hard to win the ball as well. Manning was much improved today, I agree. I thought he was very poor against Barnsley but I agree he really attacks well. Today he saw McGeady off easily and sent him to the stands. BTW. Warburton said Wallace had a twinge so was unavailable.

| 180 + minutes on 15:10 - Jun 27 by bosh67 | Strange how quite typically we are the one side that really hasn't got it's act together to finish the season. We are not safe either. Another predictable defeat against Fulham and we could really start getting jittery as teams below us gain points... by beating us! Plus our laughable 'play-off' hopes have gone so only being mathematically safe to play for. There is also a bit of a smell of players either not going all out because of a potential move away or back to their parent club. Add that to Pugh, Hall and Leistner all gone and the squad is looking pretty thin. Great shame the season stopped where it did because at that point I would have backed us to get 6 points rather than 0. I think we still need 6 points to actually be safe. |
56 points required to be safe. Hmmm. No way. 7 games left, to catch us not just one team, but at least three would have to win 3 - unlikely in the extreme. Don't panic, we have enough points.
