Excellent news. He deserves it.

The first manager to be offered a contract extension for 37 years. Wow! just Wow!

The grass is always greener.

Kinda ties in with my above post that we are in the best shape since the early/mid eighties. Interesting/exciting times ahead

Hmm. Did Holloway have an original five year plus deal for his first stint?

"Holloway has signed a one-and-a-half year contract with Rangers with options for an extension" according to this.

Just the 19 years then!

Holloway didn't get an extension in the literal sense but he did get a new contract. He moved to a rolling one-year contract shortly after we got promoted.

Poll: Expectations for this season?

In daytime TV parlance, Warburton is the Tommy Walsh of the Football Management industry.

If you need the structures changed, or a wall demolished like we did then he's your man. If you want flowery changes round the edges then give Thomas Frank (the Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen of this strained analogy) a ring.

Would rather have the workhorse than the show pony.

Gary Rowett = Nick Knowles

Versatile, never short of offers for work, doesn't like to get his hands dirty.

Paula Sousa = Charlie Dimmock

Needed more support than they received.

Booo - no only kidding.

I was (and somewhat continue to be) a Warburton sceptic. When the debate was being had mid-last season on whether to sack him. I was not happy with the team in the first half of the season and let's be honest we've sacked managers for less than that. However, I agreed with Clive, that on balance, it would not have been a great idea to get rid of him then.

Obviously, the performances were transformed in the second half of the season and therefore on the evidence of the results and the way the team have performed / are performing, this is merited. (Well done, Mark etc.)

Not sure why this has happened though. We were led to believe he was on a rolling contract (perhaps this wasn't true) and it's not like he needs the financial security, if he is as f***ing loaded as everyone says he is.

Perhaps this is protection for the Club, just in case anyone wants to poach him and this will bump up any compensation. In which case, probably a good move.

Love this. You’ve made your points, then successfully argued against them in a reasoned way. The end. No need for a forum, eastside can sum it up for us all in one post!

Bare bones.
