I thought the referee was absolutely right to play on last night when the Newcastle player went down with a ‘head injury’. He’d be in trouble if it was serious i guess but he had a good view of it and made the correct decision for me.

I know I am hyper critical of referees and I suspect that Pinner has put me on his ignore list by now, but that incident summed refs up for me; they inconsistently apply the rules. Games have been stopped with players going down in isolated area where it is clear they have energy to roll about and scream at the top of their voices, yet in the middle of a crowded area the ref allows play to continue.

Utterly inconsistent.

The toon defender was much more of a safety risk than many others yet its play on.

Ridiculous.

Discretion is fine and necessary, but leads to obvious issues like that.

Personally, play on unless players are clearly in distress or are motionless. Also, and I've done it in kids football, physios should not have to wait for a break in play or the refs whistle. As the trained medical professionals, they should run on the pitch if they are concerned.

Can we go out yet?

Oh and by the way, to quote one of their own I would LOVE it if they went down. If they are bottom at Xmas, relegation is a high probability...

No reputable player will want to go there and they'll all start trying to iget away when they are in the Championship. Their failure could outshine ours in all probability.

Bless them. The self styled " Greatest fans in the world".
Lucky to get 20,000 in before King Kev came in.
Howe has a huge job on his hand and is probably a stop gap until they can eventually establish themselves in the premier league.

Yeah Howe has just lost a fair bit of good faith there I reckon. That was a stinker of a result. Cambridge were amazing though. Listening to Max Rushden on radio this morning, its basically their best day out ever.

Having been married into a Mags-mad Geordie family for well over 30 years, seen the team play plenty, when they were very good, very bad and all points inbetween, and having spent a lot of time in the city...they have fantastic fans.

The % of deluded ones is no greater than any other club, likewise the % who appear when things are going well. The % of those who stick with them through bad times is impressive.

Don't believe the cliched version of 'the Toon Fan' - unless you think all Arsenal fans are like Arsenal Fan TV...or, for that matter, that all Rs are like Q Block Pete and his drum.

Sorry to see who their takeover 'saviours' are - but the fans have no say in that - as we know only too well.

Their deluded fans did have a big choice who their owners where as 110,000 of them signed a petiton after the EPL blocked the initial bid, this was backed by the local labour MP and the gay leader of the City council , despite the obvious horrific record of abuse against minorities in Saudi Arabia , and the bombing of children in Yemen by the Saudis. Not to mention the stoning of rape victims and the murder of a journalist.I find it hard to take that there has been no protest by NUFC fans about this and they are happy to accomadate this brutal regime taking over their club .Weve got wor clerb back , what a load of shit, still if you can ignore that and celebrate winning the Caraboue cup , or whatever its called , then good luck.No morals, No class , Shit Club.

And im from Newcastle.

Also we have to admit to Fekin Ant and Bstrd Dek as well

Read some newspaper reports yesterday saying the Saudi Overlords went marching into the home team dressing room after the game yesterday to tell them all what they thought.

Takes us back to 2008 and a certain Tango Man! Howe will be toast there because he'll have no authority now as a result of that.

I debated with my Geordie mate at the time of the takeover about how they’d sold their soul to the devil, aka the Saudis.
He just couldn’t/wouldn’t see anything wrong with it and accused everybody who raised objections as jealous.
I understand the fact that the fat Walsall b@stard was out,but I think I’d prefer Ashley to a murderous regime taking over our club.
And none of them ever seem to remember the sub 20k crowds they used to get.If you can’t get 52,000 to fill a stadium in a catchment area of over 500,000,not including the counties of Durham and Northumberland there’s something wrong.

500k doesn't seem that big to me is that right?
Getting >10% of total population as attendance is a hell of an ask.

There's what, 13 professional London clubs? I doubt that the cumulative attendance is anywhere close to 900k if you take combined average attendance of the clubs, which would be the equivalent.

302k is the population of Newcastle and 120k was the population of Gateshead in 2011,so I guess that might’ve increased a fair bit in 11 years.
The whole Tyneside conurbation has a total population of 896k,which doesn’t include Co Durham and Northumberland, where a good portion of their support lives,so I underestimated their potential supporter base. That’s without the Geordie fans spread throughout the rest of the country that travel to home games.
I also think that a lot of supporters of London clubs don’t necessarily live in London any more, but travel in from the surrounding counties. And there are a lot of clubs to choose from in London rather than just a 1 club city.

Totally agree with your comments they just seem to be a different kind of fan,all they care about is the success of their club at all costs, if you try and talk to them about football its just about NUFC nothing else, Sunderland fans are more aware of the bigger picture.
Just glad I support a club I can be proud of who are mainly supported by decent , balanced, knowledgeable, aware fans and staff . I know and have worked with some Newcastle fans who I respect as fellow football supporters and people and that is why i find it hard to take that they have welcomed these owners in to this city without question.
I cant think of any other supporters who would do this , even our friends in SW6 protested about the superleague I think the so called toon army would welcome it with open arms they are so desperate for a trophy.

Oh and Feck em , COYRs suuperhoooops
