The much criticised and derided Hammersmith Broadway traffic scheme is finally finished.
As a motorist, cyclist and pedestrian, I think the outcome is positive. Obviously better and safer for cyclists and better lane discipline for motors.
The downside is queues on Hammersmith Bridge Rd and King St.
Just sort out the Linford Christie Stadium, and I'll vote for 'em !

Will it get my car over Hammersmith Bridge?

Round my way it is only all the electric scooters on the pavements that is forcing cyclists to use the cycle lanes.

I remember having driving lessons in the early 80’s and I used to dread when the instructor told me to head towards Hammersmith Broadway as it was a free for all then, and you took your life in your hands entering it.

You should immediately have done an Emergency Stop and put him through the windscreen.

This.

Imagine many drivers around the country have done lessons in places they don't have these wonderful challenges that even experienced drivers dread.

zzzzzzzzzz

Mid 80's and just passed my car driving test (had passed my motorbike test a year before) and I'm in my crappy little Mk1 Escort with my mate who didn't really like being in cars at the best of times and as we approached the Hammersmith roundabout from Shepherds Bush Road I exclaimed to my mate that I'd never been around a roundabout in a car (amazingly not during any of my lessons or test!) and I've never seen the blood drain from anyone's face so quickly

I did all my lessons in the Greenford/Northolt/Perivale area. Target, Greenford, Willow Tree roundabouts I had mastered. Hanger Lane gyratory, A40 no problem. Then on Test day we started in Greenford and the knobhead examiner directed me up to Southall Broadway. 3 point turns, reverse parking all ok. Down the Uxbridge Rd, mostly faultless. Just beginning to think I might have nailed it and I’m confronted with the Ossie Garvin Roundabout. Failed for cutting someone up trying to get onto the Hayes Bypass.

Feckin state of it.

I learnt to drive in Hammersmith in 1991. Seem to remember spent whole lessons sitting in traffic jams approaching the Broadway. Good for your clutch control I suppose. Then did my test in Greenford, which was a doddle by comparison

Hanger Lane Gyrotary System, not heard that in years!
Went through it on Sunday for the first time in years on my way back to the M3 from mums, wanted to avoid the Sunday M25 crush!

Marble Arch was always a bit of a giggle, shut your eyes, put your foot down and just aim for where you hope to end up!

Crooked Billet in Walthamstow before the underpass or traffic lights was a nightmare in the 80s. Still bad apparently:
