Seny was trying to get the ball forward to start a counter attack as Burnley had committed players forward and we had a chance to break. I thought it was quite cynical from the Burnley player but perhaps the ref saw Dykes upfront for us and came to the conclusion that Dieng getting the ball forward to him was unlikely to start an attack!

In the Dieng incident, I'm still not sure that it's a foul. It wasn't a goal-kick, so surely a player is allowed to try and block the ball as he would be if it was a centre-back kicking it?

It changed a few years ago Brian.

An opponent is not allowed to move in front of the goalkeeper, but I can't remember how far away from the 'keeper that applies. In this instance there was definitely some separation.

Of course, it would have been ok in my playing days!

Thomas and Bonne - just how long do you think we should give them another 2 or 3 seasons?
My point is that given ffp and our lack of funds its essential that we spend what money we have wisely. We don't seem to have people in place who have this ability?
Secondly our development is not exactly stellar Warburton and Beale plainly did not have confidence in that part of the club lets see what the new fella thinks, if so time for some P45s and get people in who can do this?
Pointless building training ground if those running it arent up to scratch?
Anyone at Palace we could steal?

"including"...

So, the ref still has discretion in other circumstances?

I guess, but you have to specify what USB means when you report, you can't just say "other" or "They ****** me off!"

No because you can't challenge a GK when has "possession" and that includes when he is the process of releasing the ball.

Another football myth, only a finger touching the ball is in "possession" doesn't have to be "two hands ref"

>> It all comes down to whether we can replace them with better, although I think we would be well advised to sell Bonne anyway because he has had some, let's say, "commitment issues"

My point is that given ffp and our lack of funds its essential that we spend what money we have wisely. We don't seem to have people in place who have this ability?
>> That's a good point, although no one can ever be sure that a signing will work out. I hope Critchley, Brunskill and Garrity will put pressure on those responsible for our internal player development activities, Les too, because it needs to get better, not just to help us on the pitch but for the sake of the balance sheet and FFP.

Secondly our development is not exactly stellar Warburton and Beale plainly did not have confidence in that part of the club lets see what the new fella thinks, if so time for some P45s and get people in who can do this?

>> Agreed and agreed. If our three new coaches also declare that our development activities are substandard, I think there will be improvements, or failing that, major change.

Anyone at Palace we could steal?
>> We really need to bring in a player with a bit of quality and a positive attitude, to lift the team. Even someone whose career has peaked but who still has some quality and commands respect because he has had a decent career. I don't know who, answers on a postcard!

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Still think you're overplaying the achievement. The cost of players makes a massive difference in the Championship. The transfer fees of the players already at the club including a couple of the players who played against us, was €27 million. It makes a massive difference because when your better players are injured or knackered you've still got decent players to come on. We've got George Thomas, Shodipo, Adomah, Armstrong and Bonne, who for various reasons including inexperience and age are just not at that level.

With our first team, including our loan players, we were top of the league not that long ago. But the difference is, without decent replacements for injury or just squad rotation, we fell away really quickly. And we had seven new players come in that were regulars at the beginning of the season that got us to that point.

As for us spunking our money, well that's obvious. But that highlights how badly we did rather than how well Burnley are doing. It takes some going, a poor, usually backward looking manager (Bruce and Redknapp) and really poor recruitment on ageing, overpaid players on long contracts to do as badly as we did, and other similar teams like WBA and Stoke. Billic and Parker managed to get teams up with parachute payments. What's really impressive in a manager is managing to keep them up when you're still on a smallish budget like Frank, Potter and Howe. If he's still managing Burnley in the Prem in two years time, then he'll have proven himself.

16 players in and 22 players out.

Most expensive player bought 2.7 million ( many undisclosed), but at 21 million for 16 players with their best player, Zahoury, reported to be on 3k a week.

Top of the league, top goal scorers, best possession stats.

If that isn’t impressive Nix, I frankly don’t know what is.

That is impressive. They are a really well run club...unlike us sadly. They'll be back in the Prem next season, along with Sheff Utd, and most likely Norwich. Our wage bill is far too high given our position in this league, and the sparsity of ability on show in recent games.
